Still wild to me that Shock has Twilight playing second fiddle flex support and that this is probably the correct choice. Watching him dumpster fools on Ana when they want Viol2t to play dps or if they need a second flex reminds me that he used to be the starter on the second best team in the league until they pissed it away

gently caress Vancouver

still unreal they took the second-best OWL team in 2019 which was beloved by the community and went "how 2 market?????"

Yoooooo that Spark/Charge game was pretty sick!

I love that Shy wasn't a one-game wonder; he looked incredible today too. I feel like if LiGe were able to play, we might be a midtable APAC team like I thought we'd be. At least we're not last!

missed the games today but it seems like a bad sign for shock to be going to map 5 vs reign

and a worse sign for mayhem if they're getting rolled that hard by shock and losing maps to bad teams. it's lucky for defiant/mayhem that they play each other tomorrow since I don't see them beating the other teams

Sephy was the head coach of the Shock first season and was the coach of the Reign when the Reign upset the Shock ~2 seasons ago and the shock had to come back from the losers bracket to beat the Titans. He seems to always have their number. Reign seemed to have watched a lot of SF Shock tape and must have found something they could exploit.

I am honestly interested in why the Shock keep running viol2t on mccree when Glister is RIGHT THERE! viol2t must be real good if they're willing to play him and not be able to flex off mccree.

Idk, Shanghai looking more in shape than they've been in all season so far. Not that Philly looks bad, and it's always risky to try and predict a whole game from just the Control map. But Shanghai at least so far isn't running their weird rear end comps that don't loving work.

Lmao, I spoke too soon. Shanghai does look better but nobody's checking Carpe and he keeps getting away with murder.

Edit - I loving hate that Shanghai seems to have no grasp on the meta if they're not playing rush. They're playing mystery heroes here on Ilios.

I cannot believe Fusion picked Gibraltar for escort. Gibraltar has always been such a good map for Shanghai and Fusion hasn't looked that good at it this season. If Fusion loses this, they have no one but themselves to blame.

Ameng, the king, returns????

edit - I have some kind of brainworms and can't remember anything concrete from previous seasons. Does Void have a bad Zarya or something? Shanghai's big problem seems to be a total refusal to run double bubble.

weird that Chengdu are choosing the tournament to experiment with their lineup for the first time

Huh. I asked because I realized I don't think I've seen Shanghai play Zarya even once since the season started and that feels weird when Winston/Zarya has been the standard tank line for nearly every other team when rush isn't an option.

Anyway, as for this current game, Ameng still looks like a great Ball player but he's not as standout phenomenal compared to everyone else anymore now that playing Ball is a mandatory skill for every main tank.

No, I misunderstood how the brackets work. That's my bad. I forgot that NA has to do an extra round just because there's more teams that qualified.

they play justice next but idk that they'd win that either. maybe it'd be closer than vs shock tho. shock seems like a bad matchup for mayhem

mayhem seem like definitively the 5th best team in na but there seems like a gap between the top 3 and the other teams

Here's a scorching-hot take: Choi has not been a difference-maker for San Francisco so far this season like he's been in prior seasons. That's not to say that he's been a liability.

I'm also going to point the finger at FDgod here; I think he actually is a liability for the Shock. And of course going from Ans to Viol2t (?) on hitscan is a steep dropoff; it has to be a big disappointment for San Francisco that Glister hasn't won that starting spot.

ZypherIM

"I want to see what she's in love with."

FDgod isn't bad, but I think he was a bad pickup because his style just doesn't seem to mesh well with shock's style. Missing Ans/glister doesn't help, but I think the biggest thing is there just seems to be a bit of a playstyle disconnect, especially compared to previous seasons where they just seemed so cohesive.

That said, I'm rooting for Dallas for maybe the first time ever, since I see they picked up Fearless, who easily has the best arc in overwatch.
