If Hitchcock directed Psycho today it would be a very different movie because he died 40 years ago.

I got this title for the dumbest fucking possible take on sea shanties. Specifically, I derailed the meme thread because sailors in the 18th century weren't woke enough for me, and you shouldn't sing sea shanties. In fact, don't have any fun ever.

According to Wikipedia's list of videogame publishers, which is sortable by date established, the oldest videogame publisher was established in 1775.

my grandfather was born in 1914(we think, it was a farm in the middle of nowhere)

that almost 2/3rds of the way to the civil war right there.

It's not when they start that matters, but when they finish. If a guy is 20 years older than his wife and she keeps having babies into her 40s then it's not hard for a guy's last son to be born when he is in his 60s.

Wow this was also the first CD I bought. Also, I'm glad that idiot banned himself because Scott Joplin is fantastic and it's a god drat shame that one of America's only actual homegrown forms of music is still given such short shrift in the cultural landscape and regarded by the jazz world as too classical, by the classical world as too jazzy, and regarded by most musicians still as "lower-class honky-tonk music" which of course goes back to the fact that it was created by black musicians and the classical world is still, as much as it pretends it's not, a white (male) supremacist cultural regime that stifles and blocks people of color and women composers from its concert halls to this very day---

Also one of my first musical obsessions and the reason I turned around on my hatred of having to take piano lessons. I used to be competent playing a good half of his compositions, and there are still a handful I could mostly crank out today despite not having looked at sheet music in a decade.

heyHEYYYY!!!

For some context, Grigory Grabovoy is a Russian cult leader and a convicted fraud. He promised parents to resurrect their dead children, most notably those who died in the Beslan terrorist attack. He collected millions from them, and then said, basically, that their children's energy passed to the worms in their graves and that's the resurrection. He's the absolute scum, and the fact that zoomers, outside of Russia no less, use his quack reality hacks is frankly distressing.
