I believe Emmanuelle is shit, though Emmanuelle 2, Emmanuelle '77 and Goodbye, Emmanuelle may be very good movies.
just so everyone is aware, there are copies in the wild of 8 and bits are getting leaked so might wanna go full blackout, because it turns out the stuff in the capcom giga ransomware was like a fraction of the game and even some of that has changed (i thought it was everything and i knew everything by accidently reading it lmao)

like i just saw (real spoilers) the doll sequence and holy loving poo poo, holy loving poo poo. this should shut up people who wanted re4 to be more scary or who think re8 is an action game now lmao

go blackout until friday! the day is almost here! long live resident. evil.

Resident evil 8 pc demo dropped! I wonder how many minutes will pass before the 1 hour time limit is patched out. Kinda wanna wait until that has happened.

Edit: oh. Im just behind the times it seems. Already done and done lmao.

Yeah. The shotgun gives a lot more resistance than the pistol which basically gives none. It’s neat but I can see it being annoying lol

Yes. The shotgun also puts tensions on the left trigger when you're aiming down sights, which confuses me to no end.

Okay I haven’t played RE5 in years and I’m just kind of astonished how much better looking it is compared to RE6. Like RE6 is a grimy rear end looking game, but it’s not like RE5 was all pristine looking either in terms of its settings.

It’s even more apparent with that green filter removed.

It's very strange. I think it might be because Capcom tried to go for a slightly more realistic artstyle for RE6 that it looks so much worse. But that still doesn't explain why texture quality took such a massive nosedive. Maybe the team was stretched too thin making a 25-hour game to polish everything as much as they wanted to.

It really freaked me out when I played Control, the haptic feedback made the trigger really feel different, and I wasn't expecting it.

That's the part of the game I'm most excited for. There's a creepy doll, that always follows you: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KrGtxf-8ISc

Getting super excited. Having 2 remake, 3 remake, and now 8 come out relatively close to each other has been a treat. I remember playing 6 on release and being worried the series would never course correct. Needless to say the moment in 7 when I realized I was playing a traditional(ish) RE game was my favorite part.

I should buy and read that Itchy Tasty book before Friday.

Some IGN reviewers got an exclusive 5 hours of gameplay with the game and they said they spent about 1 hour in the initial village area and then 4 hours in a castle. Their impression was that there were many other areas to explore and that they weren't even at the end of the castle after 4 hours. It kind sounds like the game will be a comparable length to RE4

10 hours is the scuttlebutt online, causing some outrage and resulting in the "is game length a legit way of evaluating a game" discourse bubbling up again amongst the game industry people I follow.

I mean, sure if you're GOOD at games.

But for me this is probably like a 30 hour game....my hand eye coordination ain't great....and that's not counting the time I spend with the game paused because I got too scared/stressed and have to spend some time petting my cat and maybe watching some cartoons to calm myself down which'll probably take the run time up to 40 hours.

Yeah I am in that boat.. the puzzle where you have to put a chalice on each pedestal will probably take me a good hour to figure out while a normal person can breeze through in a couple minutes.

On the other hand the game looks so beautiful that it may have a bloodborne thing going on where there's alot of sightseeing going on and you wanna explore every corner of every environment.

I was joking, for me RE games hold infinite replay value. I regularly play thru all of them to improve my time. It's fun. I'm currently replaying them with my wife who's not a gamer watching.

It's all cool, I was also joking. You're right that most resident evil games can be completed in a short amount of time if you know what you're doing (this speed runner did it in 38 minutes: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ftVyHJRqH3U), but I think we're both in agreement that that isn't an inherent problem.

I don't think a short game is always a worse game, in fact I'd prefer a short game that progresses in a natural feeling way as opposed to a game that artificially increases it's length with grinding and fake difficulty.

10 hours would be about perfect, right in that sweet spot - a bit longer than my first time around 7 (iirc) but not quite long enough to risk dragging down a bit by the end.

Any given resident evil title save maybe the more sprawling action titles like 5 and 6 can be reliably blitzed through in a matter of hours once you know what you’re doing. Optimizing your play style and route on replays is part of the appeal.

I have no doubt I’ll get more enjoyment out of the game than just one initial run through the campaign. 7 was not a long game. Neither was remake 2, remake 1, remake 3, or any other number of entries.

Remake 3 definitely needed a longer Jill chapter in the middle.

I grade a Resident Evil not in how long it is, but rather the ratio of sedate map-clearing compared to time spent running from an invincible heebie-jeebie.

Yeah, as much of a defender of that game as I am, a little something more wouldnt have hurt the pacing. People say the clock-tower, but a jaunt through the park might have been perfect.

But ten hours sounds perfect - just long enough to boot up another NG+/increased difficulty/alternative ending (hopefully) playthrough on completion. The only superlong RE that works well is RE4, and even that invokes a few weary sighs in the underground caves and back-half of the island.

promo materials suggest that re8 is following the same structure as 4 and 7, where the campaign is broken up into "stages" with a different zany antagonist reigning over each. if that goofy puppet show capcom put together is any indication there'll probably be 4 or 5 sections in total, so the question is how long and complex each section might be. are we going to get anything comparable to ramon salazar's palace of wondertainment?

God Hand feels like the natural successor to those segments imo. Like if Leon and Ashley got on the jetski and were joined by a comedy sound effects team for the remainder of his awesome adventure on an entirely different island with a massive casino and a strict 'no guns' policy

The tonal poo poo at the castle is amazing. For the village segment, there's still this sort of sense of dread looming over all the spin-kicks and harpoon fights, like its still pretending to be a horror game. But as soon as you set foot in the castle, the game just goes "Nah, we were just kidding. Here's a suplex move and a tiny Napoleon, go have fun!"

RE4 is so good.

I probably missed it, but are the mouth animations synced up with the Japanese audio or whatever in the demo? Kinda takes you out of the experience...

Anyway, I saw people mention earlier that the enemies no-sell you shooting them, which is definitely also my experience in the village, but the castle enemies seem fine? Kind of a strange decision.
