I really like the drippy poison effect on Apex Rathian's tail and I kinda wish there was an apex armor set that had that.

Does the extra 30% damage from minds eye work for ranged weapons too or is it just for melee weapons?

This is wrong, I’ve definitely gotten lazulites and blood jewels on red7 rampages. It’s new after the patch or something, not sure about the lower levels.

Then they must be so rare that they aren't worth doing if you're specifically farming for lazurites cause i've never seen any of said jewels in red 7* rampages.

Apparently it doesn't apply to shot attacks. At least that's what I was told by someone who tested it. It might be too good if it was able to basically make anything a functional weak point, I suppose, since shot damage is mostly gray on all parts except one generally.

Yeah, no idea how rare that might be, I just noticed 2-3 of each in a few runs of mine, I’ll have to pay more attention. Probably not the ideal way to farm, but it’s there.

That’s what I figured. I knew it had to be too strong for that to be the case lol

My friend and I were talking about old armors we want to see again, and we couldn't remember the name of the set that looked like a metal Anubis head. Wiki browsing didn't help, but it did remind me of how dope the Deviant armors were and now I'm thinking I need to dust off GU again.

Are you talking about this one?

It's Kushala's Master Rank Beta Armor.

No, it was definitely in the older graphics style. I did forget about that one, though.

The Kushala palico set is really good in Ultimate, if that's the same monster from that older game.

it looks like it was the Helios set from 3.

Did it get brought back in 4 or G? I coulda sworn I remember seeing it on a tiny DS screen. Anyway, my original point was bring back Deviants, Capcom.

3U was a game that existed :v:

But seriously yes the absence of deviant armors is such a missed opportunity as to be baffling. I have to imagine that they are holding it back in anticipation of a better system in a later update, because I can't see the devs permanently locking out armor possibilities for a whole subset of monsters. Maybe other Hunting Action game devs, but not MonHun.

Then again, Pokemon did block out entire chunks of their Pokedex, so anything goes these days when it comes to bonehead moves.

i hope they make a really beefy hugely fat apex tetranodon. the only issues with that monster is that it's too easy and too skinny. the apex version starts out twice as fat as the post-meal regular one and keeps growing from there.

Peace Walker was actually my first exposure to Monster Hunter, I had no idea what Rathalos and Tigrex even were or why they were there lol.
The giant robots in that game aren't very popular since they didn't have the personality of classic Metal Gear Solid bosses but I always enjoyed fighting them a lot. In retrospect they basically are just sci-fi Monster Hunter bosses, you target different parts of their body to break them and get a chance for special drops. They were pretty cool imo.

Freedom 2/Unite on the PSP was my first exposure to the series.

When I played World, I wondered if maybe I had grown more patience, or an appreciation for aspects of the game through Dark Souls. Seeing this again kind of just validates that, no, those old games were just kind of stupid jank lol.

Like…. Almost immediately? I think there’s a single mission that walks you through the controls that takes like 5 minutes and after that you can ignore the village missions and jump right into hub/online

yea it seems like most people in the west (or maybe even US specifically?) got into monhun with Freedom Unite and thus there's a huge amount of nostalgia for it in the community

i've heard people say it's the best one in the series as late as mhgu and i gave it an honest try but it..... it's just so janky. hitboxes are terrible and the hit confirm effects are so anemic that a lot of the time it's hard to tell if you or the monster are actually hitting each other. 3rd gen onwards feels fine to me however.
