So what finally got me looking for another job for real today? The HR lacky who told me "Why don't you ask people to put their masks on" just got promoted while 2 other people got laid off.

fuckin priorities are in order.

Also another coworkers kid probably has covid now. they did a rapid test that said no but the doc was like "I think its covid, please come back in 3 days for another test"

Oh and every person at the office who has covid now? Lives with in a mile of me lmao.

OK so what's the end game here? If we aren't going to pay people to take the vaccine and we aren't going to meaningfully force people to take it, then what happens? Do we just wait for some super mutant strain to tear through anyone not vaccinated until they're either dead or scared straight into taking it?

Followup question: how did the 1918 pandemic end without a vaccine? Did it just get bad enough it scythed through the population not willing to take precautions until it burned itself out?

We are probably on the 2nd wave. The third wave may be virus mutate into more contagious and less deadly and then burn itself out.

Literally anything can happen and it eventually just died off, more or less. Almost all viruses do, or they mutate and become less deadly and spread easier (like the person above me said) and keep doing that until they're a joke.

Ideally, enough people get vaccinated to give this thing less room to mutate, it falls away, and covid hell world is a fading nightmare by this time next year.

lol we've been talking about sterilizing immunity, which is about killing the virus before it has a chance to get up to a proper infection, not target locking your balls/ovaries

Does it to help to focus on replacement?

COVID: Long list of problems, mostly big, very high likelihood.

VAXX!: Short list of problems, mostly small, very very low likelihood.

(Choose the smaller one.)

And either you choose the vaxx or COVID chooses you.

Hi friend,

It's going to be okay. I got both of my shots and I was super nervous about them, too. Two weeks after my second Moderna, I'm totally fine. You will be, too. You're gonna do great and you'll have cool kids with cool antibodies.

Go get your pokes and kick covid's rear end.

It’s okay, I mean when the pandemic was new I thought every new stuffy nose or headache was COVID, it’s a common panic thought when something is in the forefront of your mind all day

I have a friend who was hesitant because her mom just had a stroke recently and she had a history of strokes in her family. The Johnson and Johnson clot news freaked her out so much that she even held off on MRNA vaccines until she could research them more to absolutely prove that they don’t cause clots, it wasn’t enough for her to just accept that there were no reports of clots with them

I pressed her about it, I told her that she was 10x more likely to get hit by lightning or get killed by a shark than to get a non-lethal clot from J&J, but it didn’t matter because her hesitancy was fueled by her distress about her mom almost dying. (She eventually got her Pfizer because she found out her renter is antivax)

It might help to recognize that your hesitancy is fueled by emotions, and make an effort to make decisions around reliable facts.

This thread has gone over the safety of the vaccines millions of times. The stuff about vaccines causing sterilization is just so easily debunked, people are still getting pregnant despite half of the country having gotten vaccinated. We are not seeing an epidemic of childbirth rates lowering after the vaccine (although we did see a slight decline because of the pandemic)

As was mentioned earlier, it might help to make a list of everything bad that can happen to you from the vaccine, what are the chances of negative reactions happening, and then compare them to the chances of myocarditis, brain fog, permanent taste loss, blood clots, stroke, erectile dysfunction and genital lesions from COVID are

If you have any other concerns, list them and we’ll debunk them out in the open!

I've been medicated for OCD with symptoms presenting as health anxiety for a couple years so I feel you. It can be challenging, the disconnect between the fears and what you know is "rational". For me, SSRIs gave enough energy to the rational part to eventually overcome the fear-based thinking. If you're medicated and that isn't enough right now, (covid is nightmare mode for this poo poo) or you don't have access to treatment yet you can try and realign your thought process for long enough to finish the vaccine course.

Health anxiety, in my experience, seemed to stem from a fear of not being able to fully control the randomness of my own body. Aside from the statistics on their safety, I would think of getting the vaccine as a choice that brings you more control. Covid is an illness which is very random, unpredictable in symptoms and severity. On the other hand, the covid vaccines are well understood, ingeniously designed and give good protection against infection. Your vaccination will also reduce the collective spread, meaning that fewer people will have to roll that dice for the lives of themselves, their family and friends.

For me, my mild second-shot side effects were somewhat cathartic. I felt "sick" but knew I was safe and there was no mystery as to why I felt off.
