One thing they do with a lot of characters like Quagmire and Barney is give them nice things to do like they’ll reveal they donate a lot of money to charity or something, but still keep up with the date rape aspect of the character so on the show it’ll be a “he’s not such a bad guy after all” from characters in the show, like it cancels out that they’re not a horrible person overall.

I almost prefer the original ending, where the Africans misunderstand the concept of transubstantiation and eat the missionaries, which at least had the gall to follow through on being abhorrent rather than the sappy, feel-good ending that makes white audiences feel okay about the last two hours of laughing at African stereotypes.

I've known one Mormon in my lifetime it was a dude who was a hardcore anarchist and then did a few too many psychedelics and got suckered in by some Mormons and took a hard turn into some far-right conservative bullshit. and even when I pointed out the specific origins of various Mormon beliefs (scams) he wouldn't buy it. Mormonism is sci-fi nonsense on par with stupid cults like The Nation of Islam and Heavens Gate and shouldn't be respected at all.
