Honestly one of the most baffling things to me is how many of the host segments are long full takes. Someone laughs or flubs a line and you have to do so much over again. The Torgo's Pizza sketch must have been so difficult.

i just saw the mads' "the t-bird gang" and it's fantastic. you learn how much of a beatnik frank is, and mike was great in the q and a. think my favorite riff is "the picture of boring'n grey". and wow is the soundtrack killer. that's one of the tragedies of bad movies with good soundtracks; nobody cared enough to compile the songs

Yeah, unless they go from Deep 13 to the SOL, they're no camera changes. I guess they only had one camera, and that's what you got with no jump cuts or anything. Except for Still Store.

One thing I liked about the Netflix seasons is the in-universe unreliability of Kingachrome. It provided a nice, in-storyline excuse to cut two shots together. All you'd need to do is just float some bubbles up across the screen and splice them together.

I know it's not feasible or affordable given the profile of some of the actors involved but dang it'd be cool if they made a ~MST3k summer camp~ and all got together for a few months to shoot a season's worth of host segments with physical sets. I'm not sure if it'd even result in this, but the newer seasons lacked a certain warmth or chemistry or something that the old ones had. Felt a bit by-the-numbers and I fear that the newer season will be even more in that direction.

I liked the new seasons, I like the new cast, but it definitely lacked that warmth, and we could never get a Brute Man crack up moment from Mike or something like that.

I can't help but wonder how much of the weird feel of the new seasons was Netflix interference. Certainly some of it had to be new cast and writers getting the hang of things and guest writers needing to get a certain level of contribution in, but beyond that... I'm interested to see how the new show comes out without a network leaning on anyone. What stays and what goes.

We know for a fact that the second season is 100% due to Netflix and them trying to please their streaming overlords. Shortening the movies so much, the lesser episode count, emphasizing the BINGE nature

More people apparently watched season 12, and they generally watched it more quickly than they watched the first six episodes of season 11. Then they canceled the show anyway.
