you have to draw a line somewhere. doesn’t seem unreasonable to put in between things that are mostly data with a few simple scripts vs things that require a lot of novel and complex code. formally that’s an extremely ambiguous standard, but the law is quite capable of drawing distinctions based on human categories that you can’t really nail down formally
