Standalone Dr. Strangelove 4K coming in July per Blu-Ray.com’s database. Which means the rest in that Columbia collection will likely be coming soon.

I mean, this is speculation on my part but that movie was specifically one of the collection that I was interested in and it's not like it was gonna stay exclusive. So yeah, fingers crossed!

I can't believe they'll have gone an entire year+ without putting out Lawrence of Arabia as a separate release, it's bizarre. The set will now run you somewhere in the $300-400 range so biting the bullet and preordering it was a lucky decision on my part, I was close to just saying gently caress that I'm not paying over $100 for Lawrence.

Are we just talking about companies that use the special clear thick bluray cases, or boutique physical media producers in general? If the latter I want to shout out SRS Cinema, who do nice releases with new cover art and posters of low budget kaiju movies and micro-budget shot on video garbage.

Lol that blu-Ray.com rates Super 8 as a 5-star movie. It’s so like everything JJ Abrams aside from like… the M:I movies and Cloverfield. Just so derivative and boring. So much lens flare. Nothing wrong with it but it’s just funny that it’s 5 stars all around basically.

I dunno, I liked Super8. It’s not revolutionary but it’s one non-stop wall to wall love letter to Steven Spielberg.

Both - the reviews can often include the reviewer's opinion on the film (and the one that reviewed Super 8 clearly has a massive, veiny, throbbing boner for it - "what may be the best film of 2011," fuckin' lol) but the specific star ratings go to the various aspects of the blu-ray disc itself like audio, picture and special features.

The first season is interesting as a loving recreation of early-80s media with some unexpected touches of deep character development, like the science teacher and Steve. As something entirely unexpected, it was a fun and compelling surprise. It can’t bear the weight of being a cultural phenomenon. The perfect way to watch it was to see it pop up on netflix with no idea what it is.

I enjoy the throw back because I like 80’s movies tones way better than any other decade because they have monsters and comedy. And so does stranger things. It’s one of my favorite shows and I can’t wait for the new season

Season one is a fine mashup of Stephen King and Spielberg, with a lot of cribbing from different horror and sci-fi movies. I don't begrudge it for being derivative any more than I do for Tarantino. It should've never had any more seasons, though. It wasn't expected to be such a huge hit, and the story had nowhere else to go. They just couldn't resist those dollars signs.
