because humanity is so focused on just gettin by day to day and governments are actively squashing bioweapons as a 'threat' of that level, the stuff is treated in the same way that people treat bad poo poo goin on when it happens 'somewhere else' as usual, down to NGOs practically having to beg for funding from private investors and the BSAA having to be funded by private investors (who are also developing bioweapons, lmao) because nobody in the public cares enough to support it

chris's story in RE5 about how he really can't tell if it's worth fighting anymore is stacked on top of like 11 years of fighting leading to the world objectively being in a worse place than when he started and by the time of re8 poo poo has gotten so bad that he's out here quadruple tapping mia because the redfield bloodline must continue

Thanks for the tips on VoS Heisenberg, I was able to get him in a couple tries last night. Once I actually paid attention to the arena and used the metal chunks as shields when the cannon was recharging it went pretty quickly.

The Chris section....goddam. I lost count of how many times I had to restart the final part. But now it's done and I got the Rocket Pistol which is the saddest, most pathetic reward I've ever seen in a RE game.

I just finished the game and when I went into Mercenaries mode it got to the level selection but once I chose that it somehow caused my computer to completely reset.

It does a decent chunk of damage but is quickly eclipsed by the other weapons you get. Not a bad starter pistol, but that's about it. It's kinda nice in the initial fight with Jack in the garage where you can just start blasting without having to get close enough to grab the deputy's gun.

It does the most damage out of all the handguns iirc, and also doesn't suffer fire rate reductions from the more powerful ammo you can craft.

That's part of what's fueled my obsession with it overall. Most other zombie media is apocalypse porn (TWD, Zombieland) and/or splatterpunk (Dead-Alive), but both RE and Dead Rising are unusual if not unique in that the zombies are just bad weather.

Since the 1978 Dawn of the Dead, the attraction of the zombie scenario for a lot of creators seems to be that it's a relatively clean way to destroy civilization and force characters' backs to the wall. Therefore, there's this big contrived chain of off-stage coincidences so the systems of civilization somehow aren't resilient enough to survive the attack.

In RE's wider world, those systems are present, active, and for the most part, have been able to cope. There have been major losses, and RE7/8 in particular make the greater world look like it's nothing but biohazardous land mines waiting to go off, but society in general is still there. It's weirdly refreshing.

from the video i think it was that there were like 15 lycans per encounter and they moved faster and they didn't give you enough ammo to deal with it and not that they didn't have pieces fall of their face

I already felt like ammo was really scarce in Village. It was fun though, lots of "Yeah I have no recourse but to shoot things point blank with the sniper rifle, here we go" moments

I had zero issues with ammo for 80% of the game on Normal. Then towards the end I started to realize that The Duke wasn't replenishing his ammo the way I thought he would, so I was down to scraping together ammo from dropped gunpowder and metal. And yeah, sniper ammo seemed the easiest to craft so that was my fallback for like the entirety of the Stronghold.

In stronghold you can run past most of the enemies, which is good because I was looooow by the end Heisenberg.

If the RE4 ammo trick didn't work not sure what i'd have done in spots

At the very least, the only thing goats do in this game is give you a small bit of points for the bonus shop, unlike RE7 and RE2R that gave major bonuses for it.

This is also true for Chris segment. I got sick of trying to get through when I did my VoS run and just strategically ran, killing only what I needed to. Even with infinite ammo that section can be overwhelming. I wanted to save all my grenades and flash grenades for the final bit and the boss.

Yeah, but you don't have to time the block itself and the shove away animation doesn't really interact with the hit you're reacting to. Ethan still just tanks an axe swing or whatever with his hands.

I was imagining something like timing the block right would cause Ethan to interrupt or internet the attack and punch/kick/shove them away in one fluid animation.

For the section with Chris you can on normal eventually kill so many enemies it stops spawning new waves. I uh, was a little overzelous with the shooty the first time.

When you got done with the credits and all that it should have prompted you to save a "Completed game" data, you load that for NG+. If you didn't save that, then yeah, you need to go beat it again.

Usually there's a tiny gem in the ceiling in most cases that's the culprit, or possibly a birdcage hanging up. The birdcages especially can be outta sight and you might not think to try shooting them at first glance.

so i beat 8 and liked it and just started 7 and am liking it so if i wanted to go through the rest of the series what...uh...how?? there are a LOT of games and side games and remakes of existing games. i think i read a post earlier in this thread saying re0 was mostly retcon now and can be skipped...could i just play through the rest of the main/numbered entries and be good on what all is going on storywise in the franchise? are any of the not numbered entries worth playing or are they all skippable?
