e: maybe something like catholic reform desire in EU4. Well run communist countries increase global socialist reform desire and make people more likely to become socialist. Starving Stalinist hellholes decrease it.

No, we don't simulate local time or anything like that and a global night of course makes no sense.

We try to make a historical judgment on how much autonomy different parts of empires had when deciding whether they should be an annexed incorporated, annexed unincorporated, or subject (of varying degrees of autonomy). For example we considered whether Poland should be a puppet instead of annexed territory, but their autonomy was basically entirely gone by 1836 so it didn't really make sense to us.

Politically inactive population is shown on one screenshot. What's that?

Some interest group traits are greyed out. Why is that? What are some examples of IG traits?

What are marginalised groups?

The outliner mentions commanders, generals and admirals. How are armies and navies organised? How does the player interact with armies and navies?

There's several different models of communism/socialism simulated, worker-owned co-ops is good if you want high standard of living for the workers, state-owned factories is good if you want a more loyal elite to give some examples.

in my hours of daydream-designing about a future Vicky 3, one thing i've always though would be neat is some way of competing for prestige by means of exploration/archaeological pillaging; so, say, you could sponsor expeditions to climb the highest mountains, reach the poles, explore 'darkest' Africa and the interior of the Amazon, exploit and steal the cultural memory of other nations to stock your museums. This would be more likely to be DLC fodder than base game stuff, but im curious if anything like that is intended for the release candidate :)

As long as the stolen artifacts undermine your relationship with countries you stole it from. Also, no one’s poo poo should be off the table. Like, the Museum of Cairo puts Stonehenge next to the Great Pyramid of Giza to mock a defeated UK.

I can't even remember if it was handled at all beyond giving Britain or the EIC a casus belli to conquer Hong Kong.

Vicky 3 probably ends around 1936. 9 years before the first nuclear weapon use. Depending on how the things go it's not outlandish to imagine people having nukes a decade earlier.

Just pointing this out.

Anyway do you people have any good documentaries or really atmospheric movies about the era?

Considering the scale of the Manhattan project it absolutely is outlandish to think of nucs in the 1930s.

Talking about nukes, its a shame the TNO mod is kinda stuck in HOI4 now, and can't return to its Victoria roots since this game would have been crazy good for it with the modern mod support and leaders being modeled with traits.

I'm mostly joking of course, but it's outlandish if you take 1936 as the point of divergence. But we start in 1836. What if we have earlier and bigger world wars? What if scientists are a little luckier and decision-makers are a little more desperate? It's not like I'm moving the schedule even a generation too early, it's just a decade.
