Found something rad as gently caress at a local neighborhood book nook. It's the finalized script including a section dedicated to deleted scenes (each one getting a breakdown, some of them running a full page) and the back third of the book is Bruce Joel Rubin's account of getting the script to the screen. Over 100 photographs from the film, too. ...coming soon!

Yeah it turns out when some British dude randomly draws some lines on a section of the planet they came to own by accident 30 years prior and says "yeah this is a new country for you guys, I guess" it doesn't turn out great.

I'm sure I'm not the first to make this comparison but "The family has gotten themselves into a social situation based on an elaborate web of deceit. But oh no, an unexpected chaotic element has entered the situation and upset their scheme! How are they gonna get through this party with their dignity intact?" is the plot to both Parasite and most episodes of Frasier.

This is literally just pretty much the entire concept of the Victorian farce, which Frasier is pretty much a modern version of.

Frasier is also far from the only sitcom to use that farce structure constantly

"can you believe this guy? so paranoid, always talking about how we want to kill him. Anyways, there I was on a cessna flying below radar height in order to drop off $100,000 with the local drug cartel in exchange for them blowing up his car while he was in it."

The Station Agent rocks, recommend for sure. I can't get enough of this sort of 80s-2005 (or whenever Sideways came out) vibe of indie comedy drama. I'm gonna throw this question out there, in case another Station Agent nut is reading this thread. Midway in the film Michelle Williams' librarian character says "get any mail yet?" to our guy Dinklage. He doesn't reply much and his friend chides him for it, because he's shy or they just met etc. I still do not know what this moment in the film means. We see him messing around with his mailbox at his new lodging, with the height and whatnot. But he met her in the library, and she did not see him futz with his mailbox, and I don't recall it coming up. What in the name of cinema does "Get any mail yet?" mean? It is one of the greatest mysteries I've ever encountered. Also, another mystery. Is the movie Vibes (1988) starring Jeff Goldblum and Cyndi Lauper a good time underrated gem? Or is it not very watchable? Or something else entirely?

Ever since Triple D threw me a personal first-time showing of several Friday the 13th movies on discord - complete with hastily made mspaint art - they earned a spot in my heart. My opinion of the simplistic series hasn't changed, but I always respected the mature and up-front way they handled things around here. Curating cultural content and it's criticisms is one of the few worthwhile endeavors one can strive towards in this dying age. They fought the good fight.
