Yes, the mod posted anime child porn as the punishment reason (repeatedly I think) then autobanned after the modship was removed, or something like that

Also, another mystery. Is the movie Vibes (1988) starring Jeff Goldblum and Cyndi Lauper a good time underrated gem? Or is it not very watchable? Or something else entirely?

I watched it a couple months ago, it was a decent movie. I think it didnt really get as much mileage out of the leads as it could have and then it was a hard film to market and didnt find an audience. But still worth watching.

I thought it was more of a swipe at mediocre film makers and pretentious students who watch that and think their thing sits on the same level as Seven Samurai but seems not to be the case when you put it next to those other tweets.

Right on, always interesting watching movies pre-superstardom. Like I've been adding a bunch of HK movies to my list, and some from the 80s or early 90s have Stephen Chow in non-comedy or more straight man roles etc. Pretty wild. Though Lauper is always at superstar level.

Social media is a toxic waste dump filled with awful people who have all the worst takes. Twitter is the worst of it.

Case in point. I don't understand why people can't just take a loving seat instead of doubling down on being an rear end in a top hat. It's like Twitter puts some kind of spell on people that makes them want to piss everyone off or potentially gently caress up their own lives the second they download the app.

The real gag of it all is that this person started the rant against Kurosawa just to poo poo on a particular director who recently said the Seven Samurai was his favorite film, and it blew up in her face and she got to be the main character of twitter for a day

I'll give you all one guess who that director was

What I also don't get is...this person is in the industry right? Or they aspire to be, are adjacent, are climbing their way up. How does making GBS threads on a classic of cinema, making GBS threads on a director who is well liked by his peers in the industry, doubling down and continuing to be obnoxious and lovely going to help.

I'm not saying she should get turned down for jobs for not like Zack Snyder but it just seems like it can't help when you get a potentially big break that you seem to hate film. Most people making movies are insanely reluctant to talk poo poo about any of their peers (to a point where this has even been detrimental to outing abuse and making positive changes in the industry) and here she's talking poo poo about Kurosawa

That's what makes the other quote insane.

Also, attacking Kurosawa for long films is super dumb. The first time I saw 7 Samurai I was a bit shocked at it's length too, but that was mostly because I just saw Rashoman in a drama class and that's 60 minutes, so I had assumed all his films were short. Endgame only works if you've watched 40 hours of other movies. There's no way someone actually likes watching Infinity War and Endgame without having seen at least some of the other movies before them and absorbing some of the character information through cultural osmosis.

The song itself isn't even that good but for some reason everyone considers it the best thing the Beatles ever recorded. Even when I was a kid who was obsessed with the Beatles I thought that song was boring and always skipped it.

I think Ace of Spades was on that album, so maybe I wasn't as strict as that. I had a friend into dance dance and some Korean knock off and I was playing a lot of Jet Set Radio so there was a bunch of jpop and kpop that was under 2 minutes.
