well yeah i mean that's how im sure

democrats and republicans are just blue vs red entertainment vehicles to be talked about like sports, but dumber. viewing them as comedy is the better option but there's less of that when you have the useless silent racists in charge instead of the clueless overt racists

anyways it's the same bullshit over and over

https://reason.com/2021/06/03/abolish-ice-actually-bidens-budget-proposal-hikes-spending-on-americas-immigration-cops/

quote:

The requested budget increase would allow ICE to hire about 100 more attorneys and dozens of additional staffers in various departments. "These enhancements will address the backlog of immigration cases," according to the agency's budget proposal.

While that shift in priorities is in some ways commendable, it comes with only a small reduction in ICE's "Enforcement and Removal Operations," which consumes the largest share of the agency's budget. That section of the budget would receive $4.07 billion next year in Biden's budget, down from $4.12 billion this year. Among lots of other things, the budget document shows that ICE is seeking enough funding to be able to detain up to 30,000 people daily—a small decrease from the 31,500 in the current year's budget—and requesting $2 million "for awards of compensation to informants" who narc on undocumented immigrants.

The Center for Immigration Studies, which has long favored restricting both legal and illegal immigration, has declared that the Biden administration "is abolishing ICE without abolishing ICE" due to some policy changes implemented in the first weeks after Biden took office. After Biden's budget proposal was unveiled on Friday, the Republican National Committee accused the president of "functionally abolishing ICE."

If Manchin clones dominated all of Congress he couldn't sandbag the Dem agenda anymore because it would simply be the Republican agenda instead, bing bong so simple

It's one of the summary points in the published budget

quote:

The FY 2022 Budget includes an increase of 100 Attorney positions for Office of the Principal Legal Advisor (OPLA), 30 staff positions for the Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) Victim Assistance Program, 24 staff positions for the Office of Professional Responsibility (OPR), and 10 T-8 support staff positions. These enhancements will address the backlog of immigration cases. The FY 2022 President’s Budget also includes funding for infrastructure and information technology (IT) to support new and existing staff while improving overall efficiency of ICE IT.

https://www.dhs.gov/sites/default/files/publications/u.s._immigration_and_customs_enforcement.pdf

The article is just a summary of what's in it.

The specific details and how it will work in reality is probably going to be different than whats on paper though. Obviously.

a lot of this discussion is premised on the incorrect assumption that it is only Manchin and Sinema holding things up in the Senate, when they're really giving cover to a majority of the Democrats in the Senate who agree with them. that's why nothing would change if you added five more manchins. we already saw that play out in 2009 when there were nine more manchins.

it's also why you can't quite compare what's happening in the house.

Exactly, MattY is just another dipshit who can only conceive of politics as a TV show so he has completely bought into the media framing that Manchin and Sinema are holding things up because of their wacky crazy personalities and not because they are part of a sizable contingent of far right democrats who don't even want to do any of the bland poo poo that the center-right dems want.

Surely if we just elect some ~normal~ fash-lite dems they will listen to reason!
