Once he started kicking I was basically just panic smashing kick or jab or swing to get out of it. I ran into him later and was able to keep him at bay but it's still infuriating when they get in there or you're just too slow to back up and away from them.

I haven't played with a controller but have a friend who does and honestly he seems just as good as me with the controller so it might just be personal preference at this point. Not like using 3rd person which as we know is only for yellow-bellied cowards.

Since the pokes and the swing come out relatively quickly, I can pepper into the opponent and dodge around, not really having to worry about dragging since everything's more or less in a straight line, so I can get them down via attrition so I can go for the most important move: a charged stab to the head, which will basically 2-shot basically anyone. TL;DR: The spear is a lot of fun! Give it a try! The Polehammer's fun too, but it feels different from the last beta. I don't think it's stopping on people any more?

being even slightly competent at blocking feels a little OP in the main game modes. I'm not even very good, but it's ridiculous how easy it is to block -> alt-swing with a little drag on dudes.

Both my favorite and my least favorite thing is getting rushed down by a group of people and frantically riposting and countering and it's so good when you get one or two and such a bummer when you don't get any. And then you do it again.

You lose nothing by disabling chat in this game tho, its not like holdfast where its sometimes funny and interesting. Just completely useless unless you like hearing people complain about lag or be salty about losing

Suffering through using the bow to get to the javelins was 100% worth it, those things are loving hilarious when they connect. Had a few fights that were back and forth melees that I ended by just suddenly chucking it in the enemy's face.

Vanguard Ambusher has 1,000% clicked with me, playstyle wise. Hell yeah, It was an annoying grind because archers aren't very fun, but the javelin owns. Run from one fight to the other and make pincushions out of your enemies. Or allies! If there's something that bothers me in Chiv is just how dumb people are about objectives and picking fights. The horde will leave an objective completely empty to rush in and turn a 3v1 into a 6v1, which also sucks for the people fighting. I feel like I die to allies smacking me in the back and throwing me off almost as much as I die to enemies ganging up on me. At this point I'll actually leave a fight that started as a 1v1 when I see 3 other dudes from my team join.

These days you don't really need to convert stuff to gif anymore, since many places (including SA) support video files directly, which tend to be more efficient in terms of filesize to quality.
