Subnautica is an excellent game that made me play more survival games. Its one of the rare ones where survival doesn't mean "survive the Zombies". Just stick with it for a bit and it will open up considerably and be less effort to craft things.

It’s great. It’s pretty linear (you can go off the beaten path here and there but not much) and the story is pretty non-existent. However if you like turn based JRPG combat, it can be pretty fun and you can play it for super cheap. Is Metal Max Xeno a great game? No. Compared to something like Valkyria Chronicles where I wouldn’t even play it if someone was paying me? I will recommend it any day of the week.
