What's their recording schedule for TAZ like anyway? I haven't been listening, but I feel like a game that has a upper bound of a 4 hour playtime taking 4-5 episodes across different recording sessions isn't that unreasonable.

the other question I have is why a game with an upper bound of a 4 hour playtime requires different recording sessions

anyways richard stink was way better than munch squad so I'm not sure what point griffin thought he was making, except inasmuch as meta-complaining about bits is one of his own long-running bits

Also IIRC from reading the rules, you're not supposed to talk an awful lot in The Quiet Year, you basically just draw something on the map and say what it is. They're using it in a pretty different way, where they're playing it to flesh out a world, and they're doing it on a podcast, so it makes sense that they'd talk a lot more.

Eh. The game tries to be pretty strict about when/what/how much you can say, but in personal experience and hearing other Actual Plays of it, conversations just start happening organically.

I'm totally fine with them doing Quiet Year as a cooldown mini-arc after a big one, the same way they did with Commitment/Dust. This mini-arc just happens to tie into the next season the way the beginning of Amnesty did. It also coincides with Griffin's new baby so it's a nice lighter break for him because he doesn't have to do nearly as much. Babies are hard to take care of for years, not weeks.

Yeah, from them mentioning Texas freezing over as a thing that just happened when they were recording this week's ep, it seems like the Quiet Year material is effectively covering Griffin's paternity leave -- I guess at the moment for TAZ all he is doing is editing/recording promo stuff and planning out the new stuff. Seems like no actual game sessions have happened since they had the baby, either the prologue material or the campaign.

Folks, folks, this is a love zone. Remember why we're all here:

I'm giving Adventure Zone a break til they have 10 or episodes in the bank. Listening to Balance was great as I jumped aboard halfway through and it was a nicer on ramp. Looking forward to it though, which provides a small happiness.

May I suggest Dungeons and Daddies or Not Another D&D Podcast while you wait?

They both have that rowdy but heartfelt Balance energy, and NADDPOD has two completed campaigns for you to binge through

I really enjoyed the last episode! I'm getting genuinely excited to see what choices Griffin makes about the full campaign based on what they did. I'm hoping it's less "Oh and you start your adventure on the Big Baby. And one of you is one of the psychic shark hunters." and more the story takes place decades (or whatever) after The Quiet Year. And maybe they find the wreckage of The Big Baby, or one of them is a descendent of one of the psychic shark hunters, and they were raised to believe they were really psychic. That kinda thing?

I'd also throw Rude Tales of Magic in there as a recommendation. If you haven't started it they have a decent backlog built up and Branson Reese is truly the Final Boss of DMs.

The town has a bunch of established lore so I wouldn't just jump in anywhere. Also note that the podcast isn't some grass roots experiment. It very much starts off as a full production from the very beginning.

Just start from the start! It's good from the start and you'll work your way through it eventually. Think of it like picking up a book series.

Apparently there's a bunch of drama over Travis being thirsty for fans' onlyfans which Is exactly the kind of fake drama that it's super easy to bully the brothers over and cause them to have a hilarious real world freak out.

He was probably just trying to show how woke he is by supporting sex work, let’s be honest

Sudden Loud Noise

I took a break from the Travis drama for a few weeks (longer than his break from social media,) and was happy to come back to something that is probably not bad, but has bad optics. (A roughly 40 year old man with an audience of mostly teenagers asking for onlyfans links.) It seems like "White guy trying to be sex positive" but not thinking about context. (See also: People should be more open about their sex lives at work!)

Yea he's clearly trying to do well by people, but in typical Travis fashion it's about as ham fisted as you can get. But of course there are some people who are DESPERATE for any negative news regarding Travis so no surprise this was jumped on.

This is my read too; I suppose you never really know a guy and this could be how he chooses to let slip that he's a sex pest, but based on his entire personality as I've known it so far, it seems more likely that this is his clumsy attempt to promote sex workers and sex positivity and he didn't take a beat to think about how this might look

He was rt'ing any content creator including only fans. Absolutely nothing wrong with that.

That some people ran the numbers and saw statistically he retweeted a couple more only fans accounts than other kind of creators to try and embarrass him is pathetic.
