That's typical YouTube Steamers, gotta make that :20bux:

Anyhow, I am going to go back to playing Squad for my Battlefield fix. It seems that there's a few more months before we learn anything new or than this looks like another Battlefield 4.

I'm...

cautiously hype?

It's a weird feeling.

I was seriously unimpressed by the previous few non-modern battlefields, and there are some things that bother me (like putting new specialists behind a paywall), but... it's a modern battlefield. I love the new mobility options that appear to be generally available.

I also don't know about 128 players. I've been playing a bit of BF4 again lately and 64 players is already too much in that game, imo. I've had WAY more fun in 32 player modes.

Nope, since specialists actually effect gameplay unlike say new characters showing up in COD, they fall under the same list as new guns and equipment and such they're going to be completely free, literally the only premium content in 2042's passes is going to be strictly cosmetic.

Edit:

Symetrique posted:

I think the wording on the product pages is kinda weird. This article is claiming that there's nothing gameplay related locked behind a paywall:

https://www.gameinformer.com/e3-2021/2021/06/09/battlefield-2042-battle-pass-explained-free-vs-premium

There's probably some other incentive to getting the paid pass, like early or immediate access or something.

And yeah, if anything at most for new specialists they MIGHT just do it like say, Rainbow Six Siege or Apex where you might have to grind a little to unlock them for free, and if you have the battle pass you'll instantly have them unlocked.

Having 64-Goons vs. 64 Pubbies sounds like a ton of fun.

Huh. Well, I certainly hope so. Same with maps and all that. I'm honestly not sure how much I should trust that kind of info right now.

Like I'm looking at the store page and the Gold/Ultimate Edition say:

"Year 1 Pass: 4 new Specialists, 4 Battle Passes", which the standard edition doesn't.

Which kind of directly contradicts that statement which I don't think was actually officially stated anywhere? Pretty much every mention I've heard of it was second-hand.

My take, they'll do the same thing other DLC games do these days. Those who pay-to-play start with everything unlocked but those that don't have to start with everything locked and have to grind it out.

Even if it isnt OP, the sheer rage that it will induce in pubbies when you kill them might be worth the price.

You can still do that, though as noted in BF5 it's just their gun. This could be me being old (it's definitely that) but I feel like BF is way too fast and way too lethal now for that to be a reliable option.

Gotta be a placeholder or something, looks like rocket launchers all have 5 rounds too and a lot of specialists were carrying them. Thats gonna be a lot of explosions.

It's confirmed in. You can call in tanks now to squish snipers. Also they took the tank parachute system straight from the Mars rovers: Parachutes get it slow-ish and close-ish then a rocket pack slows it for the last couple meters.

I actually would absolutely believe 5 RPGs/claymores/AT mines/whatever is standard, if literally everyone can summon a vehicle with enough points and the maps are big enough to hold 128 you're gonna be drowning in loving vehicles and have a ton of places to cover with claymores.

Yeah but what is that cap? BF5 has like, six or seven ground vehicles and a couple air vehicles per team at a time on the biggest maps, something like that? I just feel like it's probably gonna get messy.

Oh im not concerned about these being used to blow up vehicles - but with this many rockets per person you just know its gonna be spammed against infantry.

Yeah, I really hope they'll add in some factor to limit who can carry AT launchers. There really needs to be a distinct trade-off like a weaker/more situational main weapon, or otherwise you run into a BFV situation where you have a fifty rockets flying at your tank the moment you leave spawn. Just going "well you've got a limited gadget slot so you'll have to choose between rockets and ammo packs" is 100% not going to work, because pubbies love explosions and hate throwing packs.
