Then you’ve got berserker, look sometimes you need to do damage and why bother thinking about it when you do? Did somebody say damage? Well Rangers got that too with x-fight! Don’t have any staff users so critters can fill in with healing right there in the middle of vampire and white wind. And finally you have dragoon, which... Dragoon is the wild card! Just drop out of the sky, no one’s expecting it. Fill up the blue mages MP with lancet. I mean I won’t because they’ll have x-fight, but I could.

I have mystic knight which gives me spellblade (which allows me to apply magic to my weapon attacks to make them stronger), a ranger which gives me rapidfire (which attacks 4 times at half damage), and a freelancer which has two open ability slots, allowing me to have 2 rapidfire spellbladers (as the mystic knight also starts with spellblade, so I can just add rapidfire on). This allows me to do dumb things like hit one of the optional superbosses for 9999 damage 4 times in one turn that will always hit, because he's weak to thunder and if you use the maximum level elemental blade on an enemy weak to that element, you either instantly kill them or just do a ridiculous amount of damage to them. I also have a berserker which lets me put Krile in a cute animal onesie.

Well, specifically, it's all the things that Omniscient will reset the battle for, but yeah, magical commands literally do not provoke anything from holes. (The reason a weapon that procs a spell triggers twice is because it's two incidents of a Physical-based command)

Also, make sure you use the clean unpatched Final Fantasy V Advance US ROM (CRC32 7A24AB0C)! You'll get game-breaking errors with the EU version or patched ROMs that change job stuff.

I got blue mage  . Should I build this towards attack or magic stats? I know they use both and monster skill calculations are usually weird, as well as getting stuff like the wind knife later. I just don't know if I'm supposed to be gearing them as mages or fighters. Also what does "#up" do for gilgabot? Like blogging your progress?

Does a CHAOS run use a modified version of the game to get jobs ahead of time or is it using freelancers until those jobs are unlocked ? Edit: advance looks fun but those are unlocked quite late too

Same if you're not modding, but your job isn't available yet. So you could end up rolling 4Free for a while (if you somehow end up with all four Earth jobs, for example), but once you get at least one job you can use, you have to use those jobs.

Just did the Ancient Library. Party so far is Geomancer/Berserker/Bard. It's been interesting! I went ahead and unlocked Geomancer (and technically Bard) early. It made the early game a breeze, though Liquid Flame and Ifrit were a pain! I'm also working on the "spend no money" part, since this is a good team for that! The lack of healing items is not great, though at least I'll get Regen soon. I've burned almost everything on Liquid Flame. Alright, time for toxxes. Mustached Demon posted:

Got to the Wind Crystal and unlocked Monk. My guess is that I'll need to stock up on a good amount of potions and be ready to just power through till the Water Crystal. I had forgotten how much personality the characters showed from what I played last time.

So, I hit probably the biggest wall, besides NED, with Twintania. Coral ring deals with the tidal counters but not the Mind Blast. Reflect ring will work on that but then I just get waved to death. After the paralyze wears off I get blasted away from his charged form. Currently hitting level 40 and just barely reaching 3000 hp. I feel like I need to exceed 4000 hp to death sickle/assassin blade him after he blasts me. Does anyone know what level I would need to reach with the 'zerks?

Hermes Sandals and Death Sickles are the route. Hermes Sandals make you immune to Paralysis, while Death Sickles can cause instant death. "But wait, what about the Assassin's Dagger?" That's what's killing you. Twintania is countering physical attacks with Tidal Wave, and the Assassin's Dagger is hitting every single time. In fact, it might even be better to kill off a couple of your Berserkers so you face fewer Tidal Waves (especially with Hermes Sandals). The Death Sickle missing prior to the Giga Flare phase is a feature, not a bug, and so you should lean into that, as every missed Death Sickle is one less Tidal Wave. In fact, thinking on it, I'd say stick with Reflect Rings, because then you have fewer attacks going out. While being stuck as a Freelancer for a while isn't exciting, it's not that bad since they can use any equipment (which means breaking rods is on the table). Where it gets bad is when you get stuck with something like Berserker until the Earth crystal. I'm currently looking at needing to grind up a pile more levels so I can 'zerk my way past Sandworm.

So far the MVP of the run has been the Blue spell Vampire. Fully heal yourself and do a bunch of damage for 2 MP? Sure why not. One thing I have been (maybe needlessly) worrying over is who will focus on what jobs. Since I haven't played FF5 in over a decade, I don't really remember how things end up at the end.
