I'm definitely not happier than if I didn't have kids... but that's not the point. I could sit on my rear end and just drink beer and play videogames until I died and hit my maximum happiness level, but I want more than that. I need to feel like I did something for this world. I used to be child free and thought I never wanted kids, but there’s only so much wow I could play before feeling like I was ok with life being not all about me anymore. Now I have a 5 month old and he’s incredible. That being said, I totally understand the appeal of not having kids too, because I used to think like that. It’s a big decision that each person needs to make for themselves after some honest introspection.

MIIIIINE. I wouldn't have minded if someone had said "Oh look Sass, you are best-dressed but would you mind if this land-mine amputee opened the box instead?" I remember discovering Childfree on LiveJournal in like 2004 when I was in high school and a friend linked me to them. "I found this community of people who don't want kids, I think this is what I am." I read through the posts and told her that these people were psychopaths and she was initially upset until I linked her a couple of entries that were clearly insane and she went oh, yeah, maybe not 17 years later and r/childfree is posting word for word the exact same poo poo, the exact same terminology, the exact same "rants" because they love that word more than anything else

To the couple of you who said that you had children as part of some sort of search for meaning or to give your life purpose, I think that's a little messed up. There are plenty of great things you could dedicate your life to.
