i think this kind of music in and of itself is fine, it can be fun, but it feels like dozens of people all making the same 4-5 tracks over and over again. of the zillion songs there's maybe only 2 albums worth of interesting material.

psytrance was the same way back in highschool when i listened to it. many albums downloaded. most deleted, lol.

1000x this, heard one, heard them all

i might make a distinction if someone can point me to a kickin rad dj set where the dj creatively mixes stuff together to make it interesting. because that stuff works with psytrance and all kinds of techno-house inspired music really - every track is boring on it's own because it has repetitive intro-outro parts, however djs that could seamlessly mix things together bring it to life imo

anyway here is another ambient classichttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wwH2rML4cls

and here's a really good mixtape if you like more kraftwerky krautrock https://soundcloud.com/k-rise/focus-on-fred-und-luna-chapter-02-mixed-by-krise-december-2020 (all tracks by the same weird and cool dude in germany!)

my favorite trance mixes tend to have some breaks or house or acid or other kind of genre with more funk to them. dj hardware is really good for this as well as john kelley [funkydesertbreaks series], taylor, the planet rampant series, etc. unless I'm working out there's not really a functional difference between listening to a psytrance mix or a compilation

There are a couple of essential mixes just like that, although my library seems to be out of date since the BBC copyrights them every so often on youtube.

I really like todd terje, I think he's more of neo disco though.

yes. i don't ride much anymore because detroit is a goddamn deathtrap for motorcycles, but it's definitely good for driving fast pretending this dystopia is a more fun one.

Also if you're into video game music, a not very well known indie game called Master Spy has the most phenomenal soundtrack that stands on its own for high energy high focus work:

I've listened to this soundtrack maybe forty times, and the twice I looked at the Master Spy steam page I gave it a pass.
