Also how the guy making the first offense after a standstill almost always fails and ends up eating a sick counterhit for 200% damage.

When the character gets his rear end knocked out resulintg in them remember some key inspirational bullshit, I wish in that moment their opponent would just smash their face in repeated. Too bad Kengan dudes aren't fighting under no-rules.

Glad to see the Purgatory boys are chill outside of fighting, just like the Kengan ones.

Glad to see Carlos getting himself some action.

Though my thought with his outfit is that he's going to a casino to do some serious gambling, not anything playboy.

I’m guessing Liu will get rung out so he wins the fight but loses the match.

I just noticed Liu is a Taiwanese guy saying a Cantonese phrase? Still its a really good fight, much better than what I originally expected.

Ok, Nitoku losing only via accidental ring-out, because he would simply continue getting up, and then immediately making friends with Liu is pretty good ending to this fight.

Not really happy with this fight's conclusion. Both fighters took way too many hits to the head for my believably. Like how is Liu still able to even kick straight after getting pounded onto the concrete like 3 times plus a couple of headshots. I also just don't buy that Liu can punch that hard while lying on the ground. We had to get fake biology to explain how people like Adam can do that but Fa Jin is just pure magic this time around so I guess it can do that.

Basically I knew the outcome of the match but the execution is botched in my eyes.

Nitoku threw because he foresaw that the burgeoning bromance would be fantastic material for his next book.

I think I mostly concur. I'd like it a lot better if it had one or maybe two less "this devastatingly brutal counter has turned the fight around!" moments. It didn't really feel like Nitoku was especially durable - despite them repeatedly commenting on it - because both he and Liu kept getting up and fighting at seemingly full capacity after getting monster mashed into the pavement over and over. Neither of them really seemed to be suffering from major debilitation at the end.

Also it feels like there's more and more people reliant on magic muscle/skin hardening techniques that let them soak attacks? That used to be kind of a unique thing that the Niko style could do and no one really else could, but it's kind of becoming more commonplace.

My only real complaint is that I'm not sure you can escape an armbar like that. I'm willing to stomach all the magical Kung Fu stuff but he was in a clean armbar with a broken arm and he just... Broke out. The whole point of the armbar is that you can't just spin your torso and fight back like that! His whole arm should have popped off! It wasn't wizard Kung Fu, it wasn't biology, it was just a guy spinning his entire torso in a way the armbar is designed to stop and having the force to magic punch somebody. I don't even know why that's where my mind says 'what, no that's dumb' but it is.

I took that particular bit from the last chapter when he comes too and realises he's on the ground and it looks like he relaxes his grip on the arm bar as a result

so presumably this is all going to end up in a draw now? I can't really see the kengan association losing in a manga about kengan matches but i don't particularly see ohma, wakatsuki and okubo all winning either

Yeah ends in a draw they have to pull reserve fighters. Koga vs Edward Wu anyone? To be serious though I think Setsuna is the most likely reserve fighter pick for the Kengan side.

If this were several fights ago I'd say something more interesting than what's about to happen. But I knew Okubo vs Terashi was the matchup so I'm excited to see if the clone bando theory is correct. Interestingly enough, Terashi isn't a complete unknown since he's got a fight record with Nezu's old outfit. But the mask means that he could just be using the alias. I've also seen some interesting theories pop up that paint both Terashi and Lolong as characters from Sandrovich's webcomic. Something about them possibly being members of a shadowy organization that oversees the martial arts world.

But Okubo, take off the stupid clown outfit that's a grappling nightmare right there.

Maybe it's tearaway so it'll just come right off if he tries.

Actually that's way too boring for Kengan. Okubo has probably come up with a whole new combat art centered around wearing a clown suit.

Hell yes, I'm super hyped for this fight! Should've known that Okubo the clown would end up fighting the creepy mask man on the Purgatory side. The fact that they're hitting it off right from the start means they're going to be mortal enemies by the end of the fight, or one of them will be dead :allears:
