In Britney’s testimony for her conservatorship, she states she’s been forced to keep an IUD despite wanting more kids. I think that falls under a form of sexual assault/coercion.

It’s really sad and speaks to the levels of exploitation that exist even when you’re a star.

Supposedly -according his rear end in a top hat dad- she can ask to be removed from the conservatorship at any moment. The thing is, she can't choose her lawyer and she is being forced to go through psychiatric evaluation. By probably a doctor that the father will choose.

2. how incredibly weird and awful the media treated her in the 90s/00s.

The idea that this can be legal seems entirely absurd, and as I understand it, it's extremely rare for someone to succesfully plead for removal of conservatorship.

What’s weirder is that Conservatorship seems to have no overarching sort of management beyond local judges? I can’t imagine anyone not personally on Britney’s father’s side would approve of what he’s doing, but the judge seems to be his Buddy or otherwise “on the take”

Remember when Ms. Spears had a mental breakdown which, in retrospect, was a pretty reasonable reaction to the amount of pressure she was under and the stress of being forced to preform? Well, the courts decided that the best way to handle this was to give total control of her life over to a man who would put even more pressure on her and continue to force her to preform indefinitely.

The missing piece is this: Society as a whole has very little compassion for women, the mentally ill, and especially women suffering from any kind of mental illness.

Edit:
Oh, and of course she's wanted out of this arrangement for years but the insane amount of control he had on her made it nearly impossible to escape: https://www.nytimes.com/2021/06/22/arts/music/britney-spears-conservatorship.html

If I remember correctly, she had the mental breakdown out of stress, was forced to go and check in a hospital and while she was staying there her dad hurried up, got a his lawyer and worked on getting the conservatorship. She had zero chances to speak out against it or to prove that she was able to fend by herself. They also used the excuse that they were worried she was on drugs and an alcoholic.

Two thoughts.

One, as I understand it, some legal systems transfer decision making to spouses if there are questions about someone 's mental competency. Could that be why she briefly married that childhood friend of hers? I don't know if that lines up with the conservatorship.

Two, a goon friend of mine who works in finance mentioned that it's VERY hard to get out of conservatorship. Most people have a hard time proving that they've been able to become mentally competent enough for the court's liking to end it. I have a sinking feeling the only way this ends is if her dad dies or ends up in jail.
