Seven for beauty that blossoms and dies

New Aldous Harding song. If you've seen her perform in the last couple of years you'll have already heard it, but it's cool to have a proper studio version now too.

(There's an alternate, more acoustic version on Bandcamp and Spotify too, which I dig a whole lot)

Edit: And while I'm sharing New Zealand music (like I do in basically every post I ever make) there's a new Anthonie Tonnon single out today too

It's a piece of JUNK!
Bonus tracks for the super ultra mega Best Buy exclusive edition:

Sad But True - Snoop Dogg
Enter Sandman - everyone who's ever learned guitar after 1991

For real though, I was rolling my eyes at first but like, Moses Sumney? The Neptunes? Rina? Dave Gahan? Whatever else you can say about this, they're really going for it. Unlike any tracklist I've ever seen.

Yeah I don't really care about Metallica, but the idea of having each track having multiple covers is great - I wish more bands would do that.

I've only listened to the whole thing once but I thought it was mostly meh. Didn't leave much of an impression, except for the last 2 tracks. Japanese Trees is so good.

I'll have to give it another listen but it definitely felt like their weakest album.

THIS WAS AJUDGED TO BOTH COMMIT TO AND VIOLATE A SACRED POSTIN OATH

The new SPELLLING album, released this morning, may be an AOTY contender, IMO. Kate Bush is the most obvious comparison, but some of the tracks, like "Boys at School," remind me of some bizarre fusion of Red-era King Crimson and, like, Tori Amos.

Yeah I've been underwhelmed as well. Though I did like the first single they put out. Maybe they'll sound better in the context of the album. Idk why they're trying to sound like The Killers or something.

Listened to the new Modest Mouse again. It's not a bad album, it's just not a particularly impressive one either.

I dig the e-bow (?) usage on Lace Your Shoes. Japanese Trees is still the standout of the whole thing. It really puts almost all the other tracks to shame. Back to the Middle is pretty good too.

it's not their best, but I'm enjoying most of it. Using a measurement of a band that's been around this long still putting out albums, I'd say it's real good.
