"Legends aren't born. They're made." is not a good tagline for anything, but feels especially weird here.

There's always been a little disconnect between what happens in the Sopranos and what people remember especially if they haven't rewatched it since. It's totally possible they screw the tone up in the show, but there's also a good chance the marketing for the show is aiming for the Sopranos in people's heads.

Oh while we're all making fun of the prequel movie, it should be noted that The Sopranos show itself absolutely ruled, is both insanely funny and melodramatic, stuffed to the gills with memorable characters played by phenomenal actors (and Anthony Jr.) and never lost a step over six entire seasons (except for the Columbus Day ep)

Even the Columbus Day episode has two all timer scenes when Furio points out that Christopher Colombus is hated in parts of Italy and when Tony berates Silvio for only acting like his identity is being victimized in regards to protests against Colombus day.

Also this great screen cap

Was that also the episode with "Wait, Gary Cooper was gay"?

Yup. That entire last scene in the car when Silvio is complaining about missing the protest due to them spending the weekend at the casino is so funny.

I never watched Alton Brown's show Feasting on Asphalt, but I'm making my way through it now on Discovery+ and it's really enjoyable. Makes me wish he would do another show outside of the Good Eats/competition mold (though I'm also very happy to have Good Eats back). Really my only complaint is that the first season ends with a big promotional feature for a cop, and apparently the cop then got his own show out of it, of course... but I guess the politics of it were a bit different in 2005.

I'm enjoying The Terror but man it really makes me wish someone would make a Master and Commander tv show. I enjoyed the Horatio Hornblower series but they were really cheaply made. I guess I'll finally check out that pirate show when I'm done but I read they don't spend that much time on boats.

There's a M&C prequel movie possibly coming at least

I've heard several times that the second and third seasons of American Gods weren't as good as the first one. If I watch only the first season, is it fairly self-contained?

The first season is barely even a season. They ran out of money and just kind of ended it.

No, not really, but it’s worth watching anyway. The show has a lot of problems, but each season has great stuff in it. It probably plays better when you don’t watch it weekly also. Of course it doesn’t have a proper ending.

Number One I order you to take a number two.

Been re-watching The Mick because why not and I'm getting increasingly sad that they cancelled it and they probably couldn't bring it back with the same cast and magic because now the kids are too old.

The stunt work in this show is A+ the few times it shows up. I'm stilling wondering how they did that shot of Mickey head-first diving into the pool and slamming into the bottom 3 feet in.

I don't think that exactly, but it's possible she winds up in a similar situation. Depends what the writers want to say about the cycle of abusive relationships. I just hope we get to see "real" Kevin and his dad and his wacky neighbor friend before it's over. It's strongly implied that Kevin isn't as innocent-yet-harmful as sitcom-land Kevin, but is actually whiny, entitled, and manipulative. And a raging mean alcoholic.

If you didn’t catch it, the son was in the Nasim Pedrad show ‘Chad’ as a fairly main character, which was fun to see.

As in episode count? Eh, I think a 10 run was about right for it for a season especially how sometimes it felt like a real effort to get through it.

I'd watch a second if it came back, but I'm not sure how likely that is given how long it took to get to air and critic reviews weren't great (I'm sure ratings were nothing to write home about either).

Pretty sure the Columbus Day episode of Sopranos is the one where AJ quotes Howard Zinn's A People's History of the United States which makes it one of the best episodes?

Ha it felt longer. Kinda surprised it got a renewal tbh, it did get better as it went along though.

Girls5eva is easy to breeze through so on that I'll agree a few more episodes would've gone down nicely.
