does anyone remember a substory where you go to the parking lot and there's a game that's like Mr Try and Hit Me, but the goal is specifically not get to get knocked down? and you do it a couple of times and then someone is like "hey....can I try?" and as soon as the timer starts, he whips out a gun.

I think that's the last one of the Mr Try and Hit Me's training in Y0.

the kiryu part of 4 is so loving good so far. the curry superhero guy, the return of fake kiryu, komaki being furiouus that kiryu doesn't update his blog, kiryu's big, approving dad smile when he learns that the former red-eye gang guys are making porn now instead. also his fighting style is so loving fast. i also love that there's a loving multi-game substory line that involves the loving ramen place, lmao.

Saejima question: any hints on what shiny thing the mountain god guy wants? I'm assuming I can get back up to the mountain again at some point?

It's not a substory, really, but part of the Rush Style training, so maybe that's why you can't find it in a substory guide.

Big time spoilers for Yakuza 6 and Yakuza 7

I really thought them including Kiryu in Yakuza 7 would be a complete betrayal of the end of 6 but they actually did it really well. It makes sense that since Kiryu's deal was with the shadowy old school politician that he'd be allowed to interfere slighly to help you against the young gun usurper. Also the fight with him going through all his forms was loving sick and the animation of him looking like Shenron was awesome.

He also shows up at the two most perfect times, especially outside the Bleach Japan building where the party and you the player are getting really uncomfortable with how off the rails Ichi is going.

Since it’s game over if Ichi goes down, bringing both ladies can make the fight way harder apparently since he only has two targets

I’m having a bitch of time with the combat for Kiryu in yakuza 0. no problem with Majima but no matter which style I try with Kiryu I suck. Any tips?

I kind of wish it had just been this part and the Amon part, him appearing at a massive public press conference and standing right at the front to flex about how he's Kiryu was pretty dumb and him awkwardly hanging around the tech base was just weird. It was much better done than I expected overall tho

one of the hostesses says she's moving to Boston because it's the best opportunity to learn from expert embalmers, lol.

kiryu's part of 4 seriously rules, i can't believe they brought back that whole castle from the bounty missions in 3 just for one substory. the one where he goes to bantam and gets dragged into a woman pretending that he's her dead boyfriend just so she can preserve her sanity was good stuff. also his "mini-game" just being confronting a bunch of punk gang leaders and insultingly telling them all that they aren't worth his time is great, it just adds some flavor to his street encounters.

i guess i get why people don't like 4 because the whole convoluted plan of having saejima use rubber bullets so that he himself can do all the murders doesn't make any fuckin sense, but the new characters, the substories, and the way combat moves makes up for it for me. trying to unlock and use new heat actions with each guy is a lot of fun.

Yeah, that part is balls. It doesn't even absolve Saejima in any way because he still went in there intending to murder and performed actions that he believed would murder.
The thing is, I found myself able to just roll with it. Even though it's dumb. I have much bigger problems with some of the developments in 5. Which most other people don't seem to have so I'm just gonna guess that's a me-problem.

yeah, like it's totally unhinged, but so are the players involved. i sort of just write off their soap opera way of doing things as being the products of their diseased minds, lol. they get more successful with their weird convoluted plans as the series goes on because kiryu and kazama aren't around to keep the order. it means some of the betrayals they show don't really have the punch the writing wants it to have, but that's okay. i can still hit people with bicycles.

I would have liked it as well. Kiryu could have just observed them having to stop him and the rest of the scene would have played the same. But I also think it works OK-ish under the pretense that they're just so shocked by what he's doing.

Lunchmeat Larry

Kiryu would never stand and watch a Yakuza beat the gently caress out of someone without stepping in unless he wanted to do a blog post about it. I liked it because it suggests that he's still out there doing subquests and giving wise life lessons on the down low in between enjoying retirement, and I can't imagine a happier life for him.

In LaD I like to think that everything Kiryu does is just him being part of some substory. Like, I can just imagine that somehow Kiryu happens to meet Watase as he's leaving the prison and the Yakuza 0 substory music plays and he's like "Kiryu, I'm in a pinch, we want to dissolve the Yakuza but we're afraid that some people might have a problem with that, so we need you to stand watch and beat them up in case that happens" then Kiryu says he'll think about it and plays minigames for five hours before coming back to it.
