I've very much enjoyed the few hours of VR I've played on a mates Vive. But I get a very sweaty face from having a hot screen strapped to it, so call me back when they're just like a pair of fancy sunglasses or something.

I've been playing the Mad Max game. I know it got mixed reviews, but I really like it. The combat is based on Arkham Asylum, the map and objectives are based on Rage, and that's cool.

I especially like that there isn't a bloated crafting system and several different kinds of XP to figure out. Almost everything is based on Scrap, and there are the Griffa tokens and your Legend level acting as a cap.

It's like an old-school tabletop hexcrawl, even down to getting holdings and collecting taxes in a system where gold is XP.

i liked the Mad Max game a whole lot but the Griffa tokens made the game too forgiving. i replayed it without ever spending any Griffa tokens and it was an absolute blast. resource management continued to be relevant throughout and combat remained fairly intense.

Have you gotten to the part where you race for the V8? Look forward to that motherfucker of a mission. :q:
But yeah, other than that it's a perfect 7 out of 10. Doesn't do anything original but is mostly just enjoyable and never too irritating.

Speaking of good licensed games, the studio that made Terminator: Resistance are jumping on Robocop next. If whoever is publishing it gives them a reasonable budget and doesn't rush them it'll hopefully turn out allright. If not we'll get another Rambo.

My judgement on if it's a good game is almost solely based on whether or not I can kill the bad guys, but ocp still runs the cops.

Could be good. We'll probably get a nice shooter with some easter eggs at the very least.

It's a good game, it's just LONG. There's a very climax-like fight about halfway through with several unique areas and setpieces, that most people assume is the finale but it isn't even close. The later areas also start to get really really grindy. I gave in after probably about 30 hours played, without having finished the main story.

I had to quit Mad Max because it was tickling the completionist part of my brain but also wanted me to do the mine sweeping part dozens of times to clear the areas

Mad Max would have been so good if literally everything wasn't gated behind progression unlocks. Just constant disappointment from trying to do things that sounded fun and finding out I couldn't because I didn't have some unlock. Also once you get the unlock theres zero challenge in doing it.

"oh I am going to go kill that group of cars"

Nope you can't kill those cars until you unlock this

"ok now I have it. Oh all I do is press a button and I instantly kill all the cars. cool I guess...Oh I am going to go kill those cars now"

sorry you need another unlock for those ones

This was basically how the whole game felt in every aspect. I bounced off it just because I was so annoyed by that stuff.

worst part of Mad Max is no new game plus and enemies stop spawning if you fully clear out areas. so best to leave up all totems and dont complete side quests until youve reclaimed the Interceptor

Still pissed that they put it in Blood Dragon, but then made it your largely crappy starting pistol and not an absolute poo poo-wrecker.

Well there's good new for fans for Terminator at least cause Robocop isn't out til 2023!
It's also good news cause they still making that Kyle Reese DLC for Resistance.

i like Shadow of Mordor. It's a big cool open world and there is only one thing to do: kill thousands and thousands of orcs

also I'm having fun with this RPG called Serpent in the Staglands. I got it because I heard it's like Darklands but it's really not because nothing will ever be like Darklands. It is a good, tough 90s style CRPG

I haven't done many of the story missions because I just like running around blowing stuff up and getting the parts to build science projects. I decided to just go for the balloons in all the surrounding regions so I could hunt down specific parts--and I realized that several regions is still just like a third of the map. I don't think a new game plus is necessary, I'm sure I'll have sated my appetite for stabbing people in the neck and running them over when I'm done.

I played it last year. Or ealier this year. Hard to say as time is a blur.

I also liked a lot more than I expected to. It was monotone and grindy, but the grind is fun and it was a nice game to just fire up if I wanted to play for a bit. It did not require much focus. I was initially planning to finish some of the remaining side content after the story ended, but the ending left me so depressed that I didn't want to play anymore.

The English or Japanese original? I agree that the English version stretches the lyrics to the point where it becomes ridiculous. Still love that song.

I skipped out on Mad Max because a) its not exclusively a car combat game and b) having to unlock the V8 Interceptor is just bullshit. Like a Mickey Mouse game where you play for 15hrs before you unlock his ears.
