I’ve been occasionally putting their food bowls close together at dinner time to help pepper with desensitization while I stand there so she knows she’s safe. tonight about halfway through her bowl Pepper started growling, which is great progress considering it usually happens immediately! Pongo ended up giving her a short growl back after a long while of her growling, basically a “just shut the gently caress up plz” so I moved his bowl back a bit.

So Mango has never thrown up a hairball and almost never puked. The last couple of days, he has at a couple of instances horked a fair bit like he was going to, but never did. I've suspected a hairball since I'm staying with my parents and he has taken to grooming my parents extremely fluffy ragdoll cat.  After a few days of this I decided to take him to the vet to check to make sure it wasn't something caught in his digestive tract or a blockage or something. Anyway I brought him to the vet. Getting him in the carrier was easy because I got him while he was asleep and didn't know what was happening until it was too late. He howled like the world was ending for my betrayal but didn't befoul his carrier so got good boy points for that. Poor boy was trembling at the vet.   Then came the vet time.    We managed to wrangle him onto the table do the vet could check him out. He wriggled, but didn't attack me or the vet and put up with it quite well. I was very impressed. The diagnosis? Is cat. Maybe a hairball but will likely pass out one end or the other in time. Possible Asthma so keep an eye out for that. Weight is 6.4kg, or 14lb. He got straight back in the carrier himself after the vet was done.  The ride home was uneventful and even slightly less howling. Current Mango status;  Purring his head off on his favourite blanket after sulking under my bed for 20 minutes.

*finally* got my claim for rocco settled, a mere month after his last vet visit. i'm getting back all but about $400 of what i "claimed". (the first bill included flea and tick meds for both cats, which i wasn't claiming but there's no way to break them out), so that's good.

we had to take down the bird feeder, Indiana DNR is tracking a wierd bird-killing disease so they want everyone to take down their feeders to help slow the spread.
