You think you have the wherewithal to figure out my puzzle vagina?
This entire scene feels like that moment when you trip and you're trying to catch your balance before you fall. Except you're still stumbling forward, and you don't know if you'll manage it or not.

Edit: Whoops, ninja. Update at the bottom of the previous page.

I sure hope we didn't lock Maple in the coffin room, that would be awkward.

VGPerson recently updated the translation notes for 3-1B. One of the things she mentioned was this scene:

quote:

In the flashback Keiji has in the coffin, Mr. Policeman says he wants to give his kid a "jou ni atsui" (passionate) man's name. So, I think it's pretty clear what that's hinting at. I couldn't think of anything quite as overt in English, but figured "a name you can trust" might bring to mind phrases like "average Joe.

“Let us try to look for that charger.”

  • We could open all the lockers, but the lower locker on the left hand side is the only one that has anything in it.

(I'll flip this switch...)

Music stops.

“Big sis Sara... Do you hear a noise, woof?”

“A noise....?”

“Mya...?! The door closed, woof!!”

“Hang on!! Another trap?! That's too dang manyyy!!”

(Not good...!)

“I... I don't like this, meow!! Not again...!”

“Agh...! What are we dealing with this time?!”

.

“Meoww!! The whole room's attacking us, woof!!”

“Calm down, Gin...! I'm here! Believe in me...!”

“Big sis Sara...”

(...No idea what it means, though. Is this a hint for solving the puzzle...?)

“A-A whole bunch of stuff fell down, meow!!”

“That HURT!! You hit me right in the head!!”

  • For this puzzle, you need to put an item into each open locker; each item and locker correspond to a room on the fourth (lockers on the right side) or fifth floor (lockers on the left side). You can only see which room a locker corresponds to when the locker is shut and the lantern is switched on. Moving an item into a locker will switch the lantern off – you can switch it back on again, but every three times the lantern is used the gravity in the room increases. After five gravity increases, you get a game over. Putting an incorrect item in a locker also immediately causes an increase in gravity.
[*]

  • The first two lockers are the office on the top left, and the gallery on the lower right.

  • The next two lockers are the control room in the left centre, and the classroom on the lower left.

  • Next two – discussion room on top right, and the banquet gate on the top right centre.

  • Police box on the top left, and the boxing right on the top right.

  • Finally, library on the top left, and the cemetery on the centre right. Half the items you'll receive during this puzzle are red herrings.

Music stops.

“Cough... cough... that was rough, meow...”

“But... I knew big sis Sara would save us, woof...”

“Hmph... Are all of us alive?”

“Sure... somehow.”

“Right! Where's the charger?! We didn't find it anywhere!”

“Whaa...! Another one of these trick doors?! I don't wanna go in theeere!”

“What other choice do we have?”

“Sure enough...”

Investigate the doorway.

Music stops.

(Let's check it out...!)

“Feels shady, meow...”

Investigate machine.

"Is this the charger...?”

"Huh? It's not a drink machine?”

"I'm super thirsty! I wanna drink!”

"Do they have any hot drinks...?”

"Haha... Don't carelessly start drinking anything...”

Investigate drawers.

There are documents inside.

“What's this? Some kind of instruction manual?”

“Myah! It's all about the charger, meow!!”

(Which means... the charger should be in here...)

“Huh? What's that note in the back, meow?”

(What could this be? Doesn't seem related to the charger...)

“Sara, could you show me that instruction manual?”

“Here you go.”

“..........”

“Really?!”

“Right. And with this manual, we should be able to use it.”

“Alright! Now we just have to bring the guy!”

“Let's go look for him, meow!”

Investigate safe.

There's a safe on the floor.

There's a photo inside.

“Eh...?”

“Hm? What's this? A photo...?”

Music stops.

“Um... isn't this...”

“Ah...?”

The woman in the photo... It's clearly...

“Reko...?! What is this?! When was this taken...?!”

“You don't remember it?”

“W... Well...”

“No... I'm sure I don't... yet...!!”

“I do remember the place in this photo... It's a cafe Reko would often visit with one of the band members...”

"Who could have taken this photo...?”

"..........”

"Let's use this light to look around more, meow!”

Music stops.

Music stops.

"Alice...!! What in the world is it?! Alice...!”

"They're all in on it...”

"Huh?”

"The police, the prosecutor...”

"W-What's this all of a sudden, meow?!”

"When that incident happened...! He didn't even bleed...!!”

"It was all twisted... to make me out as a murderer!!”

"I can't... let this stand!!”

"It wasn't just my own misfortune...!!”

"Stripey...”

"..........”

"Urk...”

"Gin... Sorry, could you turn off that lantern...?”

"When I look into its light... my head hurts...”

"R-Right!”

Music stops.

"Hmph... I've regained a little composure...”

"Could these be your "lost memories"...?

"I'm unsure... I feel as if there was still... something else...”

(The one Alice killed... wasn't the human Komaeda... Then who is the Komaeda we're fighting against now...?)

Music stops.

"I'm gonna kill that drat Maple...!”

"Please, stop!!”

"Kanna! Kurumada!!”

"You guys... Didn't you go to save Mai and Q-taro?!”

"You'll be killed, Kurumada...”

"Don't get... in my drat way...!”

"I-It's not like you're going to win...”

"We found a way to save you...!”

"I don't need that crap!!”

"Calm down... Just listen to what we have to say!”

"Shad... dup...!”

"Stop... getting... in my way!!”

"I'm free... to do what I want...!!”

Music stops.

"Please, just cut it out!!”

"..........”

"Right now, Kurumada...”

"...”

"Sou did it to protect Kanna...”

"And Kurumada...”

"Eh...?”

"An Obstructor's goal should be complete after they destroy one of you...”

"And yet, Maple's rampage didn't stop.”

"Kurumada, you must think that's because...”

"She thinks you're still alive... right?”

"...”

"No way...”

"Shut up... Don't make up... wild assumptions...”

"But I don't want any more of that...”

"Don't think "it would be better if I died"...!”

"...”

"...We found a charger. We can save you...”

"You want me... to live...? Dammit...”

"I'll smash it...! Even if I do charge, how long's it gonna last?!”

"I can hardly even walk anymore!!”

"Kanna will be your legs...!”

"I can't carry you fully... But I can give at least half support!”

"Let's go, Kurumada...!”

"...”

Let's take him to the room with the charger...)

Not exactly. The pictures displayed on the lockers are just the map layouts; you have to personally make the connections between items and what room they should go with.

Also, some important moments for both Alice and Kanna in this update. A bigger picture of what actually happened with Alice's "crime", and Kanna enthusiastically demonstrating her growth from her attempts to throw herself at death for most of Chapter 2.

Well, there's confirmation that someone in the coffins was human (start of game: blue 1 red 6). The obvious answer is that it's Sou, but I'm worried there'll be another twist in there.

This could be the most one-sided fight since 1973 when Ali faced an eighty-foot tall mechanical Joe Frazier. My memory isn't what it used to be, but I think the entire Earth was destroyed.

Yeah I’m thinking there’s no way the sou that’s present in the death game is not a doll. I would guess the real human out of the group then is hinako, since we never saw her full body in her death video

Music stops.

(According to the manual, this can recharge one person to full charge.)

"Let's charge his torso.”

"Alright... Let's connect him like the manual says.”

"...”

"...No... I'm fine...”

"Kurumada! Are you still...?!”

"...Just think about it...”

"With this battery here... you could extend the others' lives, right...?”

"Eh...?”

"No... I don't need that...”

"...Ehh?”

"You're gonna die, aren't you...?”

"Aren't we allies...?”

"...”

"...None of you idiots think things through...”

"Should the guy who got himself injured like this be saying that?”

"...Hey, Sara. Listen.”

"Huh...?”

"Remember the unique info each of us got to hear...?”

"...That's mine.”

"Heh... Don't even know what it means...”

"And besides, what's it matter to me...”

"Why suddenly bring this up now...?”

"Hmph... just felt like it...”

"'Cept, well...”

"There goes the value of letting me live... I guess.”

"...So you're saying you want us to protect the others?”

"Huh?! What, what? Is that how it is?!”

"...Quiet, you...”

"Heehee...”

Music stops.

(Kurumada will be fine now...)

(We have to find a way to get downstairs!)

Talk to Kurumada.

“Do something about that drat woman downstairs...”

“Please stay put, Kurumada.”

“I know, dammit...”

Investigate the door.

Music stops.

"Oh? Do you need the consent form?”

"Komaeda...!”

"What's with the scary face, murderer?”

"Alice! Please calm down...!”

"I know! But...!”

"I must make certain about that photo...!”

"Something you want to say?”

"Yes... I remembered...”

"I... haven't killed anyone...!”

"You set the whole thing up!! Komaeda...!!

"Why would a dead man come back to life...?”

"I'm sure it flows within you! A vile black blood...!!”

"...Want to try killing me, then?”

"...!!”

"Don't go...! He's just provoking you!!”

"As if I don't know that!! I'm not some kind of moron, you knooow?!”

"Aww, you're surprisingly cool-headed.”

Music stops.

"What...?”

"H... Huhhh?! What in the world?!”

"A rocket punch! Cool, isn't it?!”

(H-He's mocking us!)

(But if something like that hits...!!)

"Guh...!”

"Haha...”

"Just so we're clear, Alice... I'm deeply angry.”

"Even I didn't plan for such an incident.”

"I won't forgive you for that, Alice.”

"You...!!”

"And also... you're barking up the wrong tree putting all the blame on me.”

"...?!”

"Go try it out. ...Not just on Alice, but on everyone.”

Komaeda leaves.

Music stops.

(I couldn't get a word in...)

"Dammit...!”

"I was so nervous, meow... If that thing flew at me, I wouldn't be able to dodge, woof”

"It's true... I was strangely calm...”

(Alice...)

(Alice used Safalin's machine to erase his painful memories of Reko... Did that keep him from falling for that provocation?)

"Hey, Sara-senpai. Should we split up and search for clues now?”

"We don't have many people. Let's do what we can.”

"Sounds good... Be cautious, everyone. Be sure to put your safety first.”

Everyone except Sara leaves.

(...And now I'm by myself. I should look for a way to get downstairs too...)

Talk to Hinako.

“Ahh, I see...”

“Noticed anything, Hinako?”

“You know, Sara-senpai...”

Music stops.

“You think... the breaker was shut off?”

“Eh...?”

“The breaker for the elevator was on Floor 4.

“Did someone downstairs do that...?”

“Maybe Mai, or Q-taro...? Surely not Keiji...? Haha...”

“...!”

“...Heehee. I don't know who did it or why...”

“But watch your back, Sara-senpai.”

“Take a look at this lantern, Hinako.”

“What...? I don't have that kind of time.”

(Oof... She's just not having it.)

Talk to Alice.

"...Is something the matter, Alice?"

"Hnh?! Don't speak up so suddenly...!”

"...Did I?”

"..........”

"Hey... Sara Chidouin...”

"There was a transceiver and a voice recorder here, yes...?”

"Um...? Yes, that's right.”

"..........”
"
(I wonder what's the matter... I shouldn't make him push himself any more...)

Music stops.

“Alice. Can we talk about your lost memories...?”

"Hmph... My capability to remember surely isn't strong enough to recall any more than I have...”

"Even if it's difficult to do alone, you might remember something while we talk.”

"Foolish... That couldn't possibly...”

"..........”

"...Well, I suppose it's worth a try, hm? Thinking on it, I never have opened up about it to someone else.”

"You'll just have to put up with it being me.”

"Hah... Be sure to fully carry out your listener's role so I can speak at leisure.”

(Komaeda... He said to use this lantern on everyone...)

(It projects the things we can no longer see... We just... have to try.)

"Despite how much time I spent there, it's strangely vague, you see... I feel as if something special occurred that day... Yet when I remember it, it's all entirely normal.”

Is there something wrong in Alice's memory...?)

  • We can point out things that aren't different for some extra text.

"Nothing odd about it, is there? It's just a blanket.”

"The prison was chilly in winter, sweaty in summer... and this blanket addressed both rather inadequately.”

(Such terrible treatment...)

"Could you remember this part a little more?

"Nothing odd about it, is there? It's a towel with my favorite design."

"Stripes are wonderful, Sara Chidouin... They make both body and mind stripey..."

(I don't entirely get it...)

"Could you remember this part a little more?"

"Right... It's nothing of great import. Just a book I was reading to pass the time."

"There was a library in the prison, you see. I don't dislike reading, so it fulfilled me."

(Being able to read as many books as you want... I envy that part, at least.)

"Could you remember this part a little more?"

"Nothing odd about it, is there? It's a poster I put up."

"It's depressing to stare at a drab wall all day. If given the right to put up a good poster, take it!"

(I-I don't intend on going to prison myself...)

"Could you remember this part a little more?"

".........."

"That's... a Reko poster."

"When I... heard she'd formed a new band... Err..."

"While I felt lonely... I was also happy."

"She got back into music after all... Whether I was there or not."

(Alice...)

"...That's enough of this topic."

"Could you remember this part a little more?"

"Nothing odd about it, is there? It's just a vent."

"Planning escape through here would put you in the basement. Of course, my muscular body wouldn't fit..."

(He's bragging...)

"Could you remember this part a little more?"

"Nothing odd about it, is there? It's just tableware and cups."

"I generally never used it." Why was there tableware there, I wonder?"

"Don't tell me... It conceals a massive clue...?!"

(I doubt it...)

"Could you remember this part a little more?"

"Nothing odd about it, is there? It's just a chair."

"Four legs... but no rollers! No backrest, and of course, little cushioning!"

(He's taking remembering the chair very seriously...! Not that it seems very relevant...!)

"Could you remember this part a little more?"

"...They were reports on my murder case. I was trying to gather them using my limited information network in the prison."

"I... knew not a single correct thing about my own incident."

"What lay at the root of it...?"

"...Did I arrive at that truth? And thus my memories had to be erased...?

"I don't know, but..."

"Reko is here no longer... That much... is a fact."

(Alice...)

"Could you remember this part a little more?"

"Right, that's just a radio. Nothing odd about it."

"Furthermore, it was broken by the time I arrived. All my info came from newspapers or the guards.”

(It's possible they intentionally made it unusable...)

"Could you remember this part a little more?"

"Yes... I collected all the information I obtained at the prison there."

"Also, well... articles about Reko and such..."

(...)

"They supported my heart... yet also reminded me painfully of my crime."

"I was thinking only of atoning then..."

"drat it... How I despise my gullibility...!"

(...)

"Could you remember this part a little more?"

"Nothing odd about it, is there? It's just a light bulb."

"The hours they put that thing on were awful. At night, I'd hear the groaning of prisoners in dim light..."

"My own groaning, I mean!!"

(A rough environment, to be sure...)

"Don't you think this part's a little strange?"

"Yooou...! Are you trying to call me strange in the head?!"

"Your memories have been twisted... So I can't exactly say it's normal."

"...!!"

"Tch... My apologies, then. To think we must suspect even ourselves..."

(Whew, managed to talk my way out of it...!)

"Don't you think this part's a little strange?"

"Are you questioning my fashion sense?!"

"To be clear, Sara Chidouin, do not think that prisons allow you to choose your clothes freely...!!"

(That's not what I was talking about, though...)

"Could you remember this part a little more?"

"Ehh...? You want me to check out his fashion?"

"Are you a fool? What's stylish about guard uniforms? Plain clothes for a plain man... Peak lameness!"

"85 points...! Don't go belittling fashion, please and thank you!!"

(That's kind of a high score, though...?)

"Could you remember this part a little more?"

"Nothing odd about it, is there? It's just a ladder."

"I'd respond to your demand... but it's just so normal. It'd be difficult to remember the ladder in detail!"

(Please, do your best, Alice...!)

"Could you remember this part a little more?"

"Nothing odd about it, is there? It's just a stiff bed."

"When something good happened, I slept in the top bed. Having no roommate, it was my room's pinnacle...”

(He sounds so happy about it...)

  • Onto the actual differences.

"Could you remember this part a little more?"

"Trying to make an attack on me, you brute?! You'll surely atrophy...!"

"That day, I tried to talk with the guard..."

"And now that I think of it, I feel I was holding something in my hand when I did."

"I believe it was..."

Music stops.

"Holding the article in my hand, I tried to approach the guard...”

"Yet something surprised me... and I collapsed."

"The guard... Why did he surprise me so?"

(Hmm... What could it be?)

"Could you remember this part a little more?"

"Hmph... As I recall..."

"Mm?! Come to think of it..."

Music stops.

"What does it mean...?! Isn't that the same logo on the coffins in the cemetery?!"

"P-Please calm down...!"

"I know how you feel... But for now, focus on sorting out your memories!"

"Y-Yes... you're right."

"Could you remember this part a little more?"

"Finding faults with me, Sara Chidouin...?!"

"Yet, indeed... I feel it wasn't a trash can. On that day only..."

"...That's it.”

Music stops.

"Not only that... It was Komaeda's scarf!!"

"drat it! What is this?! Now that I remember it, it's clearly bizarre!!"

"Please don't go on a rampage...! Relax and take deep breaths!"

"Say what?! Don't treat me like some kind of strange beast, you!"

(I'm not treating you like that...!)

"Could you remember this part a little more?"

"Guh...! You dare give me instructions?!"

"But rejoice... I shall comply and attempt to do so!"

"Huh?!”

"That's it! I was making tally marks to count the days!”

"That thing where you add a line every day?”

"Mwahaha... Precisely."

"Indeed, I suppose I thought it appropriate to perform this prisoner-like act."

(...That's not really a clue to anything...)

"Could you remember this part a little more?"

"Whaaat? You're wondering about a place like that?"

"Come to think of it... I feel something was there..."

"Ah...”

Music stops.

"That morning, they came in as a gift from someone..."

"Honestly... I gulped. I thought, it couldn't be..."

"..."

"Yet... they weren't from Reko! drat it! What in the world were these...?!"

(Getting sent an instrument...of course he'd think that...)

"Could you remember this part a little more?"

"Hmph... A strange place to question. How fitting for you...”

"Thinking on it, I feel something was there..."

Music stops.

"That's it! A chain! A chain was attached to the bars...!"

"How abhorrent! Thinking about it, why am I still the only one in chains?!"

"You can't remove those handcuffs or shackles...?"

"Like, of course not!! Duh!! You thought was wearing these because I wanted to?!"

(Guess it's a bit bold for a fashion statement...)

"Could you remember this person a little more?"

"You...! You seek to give a reason to everything!"

"..."

"...Ah...!!"

Music stops.

"W-What's the matter?!"

"A... Absurd... He..."

"The guard that day...!"

"What does that mean...?!"

"I-I know not...! And yet, I saw him there..."

"drat it!! I feel as if I'm going to go nuts...!"

"I went to prison because I killed him! And yet, I reunited with him there...?!"

Music stops.

"S-Stay calm...! For now, just remember! Don't think about it...!"

"Ghh..."

“I had been gathering information on the murder I had committed.

“One such morning... an instrument was brought to me.”

“I thought, could it be Reko...?

“I tried to ask the guard about the sender...”

Music stops.

“However...”

“What about this is “good for me”?! My family is a mess because of you...!! My parents have to live as the parents of a murderer...! And Reko... she could no longer do music!! She can't sing, you hear me?! Even though... she loved to... so much...!!”

“No worries! I met Reko today and took care of her.”

“Wha...? I'll kill you!! If you did something to Reko... This time, I swear I will...!”

“Ehh...? Officially, I'm already a dead man...”

“Does that matter?!”

“Hmm... But actually, maybe this is perfect.”

“Huh...?! What are you blabbing about?!”

“Atonement for things coming to this... If you sign a certain consent form for me... I'll grant any wish you have.”

“You truly don't listen to reason...!! What are you saying, “who I want to be”?! You've wrecked everything!!”

“Sounds like a deal. Will you sign the form...?”

Music stops.

"Gah...!”

(This was Alice's erased memory...)

I tried all four options and got Joe every time, not sure if this is due to previous choices or Nankidai swapped Kai for Joe at some point.

Extremely late, but apparently, whether Joe or Kai shows up here depends on whether you used Safalin's memory machine at any point. If you haven't, Joe appears, but if you have, since Sara forgot about Joe somewhat, Kai shows up instead.

Extremely late, but apparently, whether Joe or Kai shows up here depends on whether you used Safalin's memory machine at any point. If you haven't, Joe appears, but if you have, since Sara forgot about Joe somewhat, Kai shows up instead.

That makes sense. Thanks for pointing that out. :)

Talk to Kurumada.

"The hell... Ain't the time to worry about me, is it?"

“How are you feeling?”

"...Not too terrible."

(Seems he's charging up well...)

"Kurumada, please look at this lantern."

"...Hah. Sorry to say, but I can't see too well."

(I wonder if his eyes took some damage too...)

Talk to Anzu.

"Hey, um... Are you okay...?"

"How is he, Anzu?"

"He kinda seems to be getting better, bit by bit!"

"He keeps asking "don't you wanna charge?" though..."

(So Kurumada can be kind to his fellow Dummies...)

"But passing around the same charger feels a little embarrassing..."

"...You're the same as ever, Anzu."

"I... In a good way, right?! Right, Sara?!"

"Look at this lantern for me, Anzu."

"N... Nooooo! I'm like, not good with that stuff!"

(Wha...?! That's her reason?)

Talk to Gin.

"Gin, are you searching on your own? Careful, now."

"I'm okay, meow! I'm searching in cat mode, meow!"

"Oh...? Cat mode?"

"Yeah, meow! If a cat senses danger, they can get away super nimbly, meow!"

(I see...!)

(...That's a pretty big drawback.)

"Big sis Sara, you should use it too when the time calls for it, woof!"

(...He just “woof"ed...)

Music stops.

"Hey, Gin... Can we talk about your lost memories?"

"Sounds like a complicated subject, woof..."

"There's surely memories of ours that were erased... We have to get them back."

"How can we remember if they were erased, meow?"

"Hrm...?! W-Well, people's memories don't completely vanish..."

"Got it, meow! Your reaction was funny, so I'll work with you, woof!"

(Urgh... He asked that knowingly...)

"Big sis Sara! Start from wherever, meow!"

"It feels like it was fun... or maybe scary... It's kind of hard to remember, woof."

"I wanna remember it properly and clear it up, meow!"

(Well then... Let's give it a try!)

"Could you remember this part a little more?"

"Hmm... I think it was just a curtain like I remember, meow."

"They'd close the curtain if somebody was there, meow. Otherwise they'd leave it open, woof."

(They chose a time no one else was there...?)

"Could you remember this part a little more?"

"Heheh! That's a picture I drew, meow!"

"It's when I went to the beach with mom and dad, woof. We picked up lots of pretty shells, meow!"

"That must be a fun memory."

"I didn't like it when we went, but I'm glad we went now, woof!"

"Big sis Sara, do you like the beach, meow?"

"W-Well, I mostly just splash in the shallows... But sure, I like it."

"The beach is fun even if you can't swim, meow!"

"Urgh... You caught on..."

"Could you remember this part a little more?"

"Hmm... I think it was just a bed like I remember, meow."

"Can't believe people can sleep there, woof. I could never sleep at school, meow!"

"Big sis Sara, you don't nod off at school, right, woof?"

"O-Of course!"

"Could you remember this part a little more?"

"Hmm... I think it just had a first-aid kit and stuff in it like I remember, meow."

"Whenever I got hurt, the doctor lady always knew what was just the best to give me rest, woof!"

(Truly blessed...)

"Could you remember this part a little more?"

"That's the laptop teacher always brought, meow!"

"Apparently he'd write down things he wanted to ask and bring it with him, woof."

"Were there any strange questions?"

"He asked what kind of girl I liked, meow! You can't invade on a kid's privacy, woof!!"

"That sure is rude."

"Yeah! I bet he wouldn't like it if I asked him the same question, meow!"

"Could you remember this part a little more?"

"Hmm... I think it was just the nameplate for the infirmary like I remember, meow."

"It's kinda cool, woof. I want one, meow!"

(To play make-believe, I guess...? Anyway, guess there's nothing suspicious here.)

"Could you remember this part a little more?"

"Hmm... I don't think anything important was written there."

"It was something along the lines of “let's talk about something fun!", woof."

(Nothing unusual here...)

"Could you remember this part a little more?"

"Hmm... I think it was just a chair like I remember, meow."

"I don't like my feet not touching the floor, so I always bring it down real low, woof!"

(Elementary school ranges from first grade to sixth grade, after all...)

"Could you remember this part a little more?"

"Hmm... I think it was just a red pen, meow."

"I wanna score stuff with that red pen like a teacher sometime, woof!"

"I hear it's a pretty tough job."

"Marking assignments for dozens of people does seem like it'd be rough, meow..."

"I'd have to make the questions really hard so I could just mark them all wrong, woof!"

(That's one heck of a teaching policy...)

"Could you remember this person a little more?"

"Yeah! That's the doctor lady who's always in the infirmary, meow!"

"If I got hurt, she'd give me a band-aid... If I was feeling bad, she'd let me lie down, woof."

"But I heard a rumor she was pretty strict about faking sick, meow!"

"You wouldn't do that, would you, Gin?"

"I'll only nap fair and square, meow!

"Could you remember this part a little more?"

"Of course, woof! This is a picture I drew, meow!"

"It's when mom and dad and I saw some fireworks, meow! They were really pretty, woof!"

"Heehee... Fireworks are great, huh."

"I didn't like the crowds, but it was fun, meow!"

"Could you remember this part a little more?"

"Hmm... I think it just had tableware and stuff in it like I remember, meow."

"I don't really wanna eat in the infirmary since it smells like medicine, woof."

(Sounds like nothing of interest...)

  • Actual differences.

"Could you remember this part a little more?"

"Roger, meow! That's a picture I drew..."

"...Huh?"

"I never drew a picture of a butterfly, woof. That was... a picture of a butterfly the teacher brought, meow."

"It was a really sucky drawing... like a big ink stain, woof!"
(An ink stain...? I feel like I've seen this kind of picture before...)

"My pictures are way better, meow!"

"Big sis Sara, we should draw portraits of each other someday, woof!"

"W-Well now, I wonder...!"

"...You don't wanna, meow?"

"N-No, not at all. I look forward to it."

"Yaaay!"

  • Sara is so bad at drawing that even Mishima was daunted.

"Could you remember this part a little more?"

"Mya... You're right, it is really big for a first-aid kit, woof..."

"Oh yeah! I remember, woof! It wasn't a first-aid kit... I think it was a speaker, meow!"

"Teacher always said it would help me relax to play music while we talked, woof."

(Which means they were discussing things that made him nervous...?)

"We talked about school... and home... and all sorts of stuff, meow."

(I wonder... this situation I'm looking at... Is it Gin getting counseling...?)

"What is it, meow?"

"No, it's nothing."

"Could you remember this part a little more?"

"Leave it to me, meow!"

"Hmm... It's pretty minor, but I was kind of curious about something, woof..."

"That's it, meow! I know what it was, woof! There was an unfamiliar pen in the pen holder, meow!"

"An unfamiliar pen...?"

"A pen the usual infirmary person doesn't use... It only showed up when that teacher was there, meow!"

"I know, woof... That pen..."

"It's actually got a hidden camera, meow!"

"Say what...?!"

"Spy stuff, woof! Some special service something from another country was targeting me, meowww!"

".........."

".........."

"...Now that I think about it, wasn't I actually being targeted, woof?"

(What sounds like a joke could be entirely true...)

"Gin... Could you remember yourself a little more?"

"Of course, meow! I mean, when it's myself..."

".........."

"Big sis Sara... Sorry, woof. I lied, meow... Back then... I was wearing the same outfit I am now, woof..."

"Why are you apologizing? Sure, it's uncommon to go to school in an outfit like that, but..."

".........."

Music stops.

"...Um..."

"I'm okay now, but I used to not be able to go out if I wasn't wearing this, meow..."

"Must get cold, living in a snowy place..."

"Huh?! No I don't, meow!!"

"Is that right...?"

"It's not about temperature... I just... um..."

".........."

"...So you really were just cold?"

"B-Big sis Sara! Don't tease me..."

"...You can tell me when you're warmer. Either your body, or your heart."

"...!"

"I'll be there for you anytime if you want to warm up together. We're allies, after all."

"Big sis Sara..."

"Got it, meow! Thanks, big sis Sara!"

(I never paid it much mind before, but maybe that outfit...)

"Could you remember this part a little more?"

"Meow-meow! Got it! Hold on, woof!"

"Myaaah... Come to think of it... I feel like there was a black safe there, meow!"

"When teacher talked to me, he'd always take papers out and write on them, meow!"

"He wouldn't show me what he wrote... I wonder what it was, woof...?"

"He kept it hidden from you?"

"Yeah... I kinda didn't like it, 'cause it was like I was being observed, meow."

(An observation log...? Surely not...)

"Could you remember this part a little more?"

"Meowww! All memories on deck, meow!!"

"...Oh."

"Big sis Sara... I think..."

Music stops.

"I might've remember something important, woof..."

"Huh?"

"The consent form...?!"

"I dunno why I forgot, meow... but..."

"Thinking back now, it was the same one, woof...!"

"...!!"

"Maybe I... but... why...?"

"Calm down... Take it slow."

Music stops.

"R-Right..."

"Could you remember this part a little more?"

"Leave it to me, meow! Umm, let's see..."

".........."

Music stops.

"...Huh...?"

"Strange, meow... That doctor's face..."

"Why, meow?! Is that possible, woof?!"

"Calm down, Gin...!"

"We talked about all sorts of stuff together, meow... About fun stuff, and some less fun stuff..."

"I thought... he was a good person for always hearing me out, woof..."

"But teacher... was that guy, meow...?"

"Even though he listened to all that stuff, he kidnapped me and made me have to do this, woof...!"

"Gin!! Stay with me! Just hang on...!"

".........."

"Big sis Sara... Thanks, meow..."

"Sorry... I shouldn't be digging up lost memories, should I..."

"No, I wanna know, meow..."

"Maybe I was being tricked, but... I wanna know what's a lie and what's real, woof."

"Big sis Sara! Work with me, meow!"

(Gin...)

"Um... so the thing is..."

(...!)

"If I don't wear this... I feel really embarrassed. I get nervous, woof... I know it's weird, meow..."

"...It's okay. There's nothing weird about that."

"R-Really?! That's good, meow!"

Music stops.

"But... he was the one who was all nice and told me I could get better, woof..."

"R-Really, meow? She doesn't think I'm a weird kid who's too much trouble, woof...?"

"Heheh! I'm gonna grow up quick and be a man mom can depend on, woof!"

"What's that, meow?"

"Really, meow?! It's a magic paper, woof!!"

"Well, obviously for mom to be healthy and live a long life, meow!!"

"I'll be great on my own power, woof! But if mom isn't there with me, then I won't be able to show her, meow!"

"Heehee!"

Music stops.

"If I'm going through this now because of that... That's just awful, meow..."

"If I make mom sad... there's no point, woof..."

(This was Gin's erased memory...)

"...We'll definitely make it home, meow. Big sis Sara, and everyone else... We won't sacrifice anybody, woof!!"

"Right...!"

  • Gin hinted at this earlier, we need to use the Lantern here.

Investigate inside of the Police Box.

Music stops.

(Wow... You can even see the posters and such.)

"Hades Incident...?"

"Oogh..."

"Gin...? What's wrong?!"

"Hades... Incident..."

"Eh...?! W-Why do you know that, Gin...?"

"I dunno, woof! I just suddenly remembered..."

(Is it because of the lantern...?)

Music stops.

"Gin, good job remembering. Maybe that's one of your lost memories, too..."

"Big sis Sara..."

(Still... "wanted,"huh? That means Asunaro is looking for this person... If you have a finger on the criminal, hm?)

"Oh...?"

"Meow?! Something fell out, woof!!"

"It's a yakuza's pinky, meooooow!! Gross, wooooof!!"

(Could this be a clue to something...?)

I'm sure most people know this, but there is a yakuza ritual in which part of your pinky gets chopped off to atone for an offense.

I really like how they handle Gin's autism here. You could make a reasonable guess from his behaviour in previous chapters, but when he discloses it to Sara here, she just accepts it no questions asked. Honestly everyone (Floor Masters aside) has been really understanding of Gin and that makes me happy :3:

Komaeda, on the other hand...You can't make a kid sign a contract! That's not legally binding at all!

It's highly doubtful that these contracts would be legally binding for anyone, especially not if signed under coercion, like Komaeda is attempting with Sara. Which of course begs the question of what the purpose of getting these form signed is in the first place.

I've really been wondering what the point is too, and this is the first suggestion that actually does make sense.

This whole game is full of pointlessly elaborate setups to gently caress with people and see how they react. So a form that exists for no other purpose than to have a fun gotcha moment on them in the middle of a chapter-end showdown would be totally plausible.

Yeah, pretty much. There's a larger theme of making the contestants feel like what happens to them is under their control and, by extension, also their fault. See the instructions that could've saved Mishima, giving Sara a device to save Joe, etc... etc...

We've seen that they've tried countless times with AIs to predict how each character will react in the game. And certain things are absolutely done because of the effects they'll have on the victims' mental health.

Is it possible that the whole game is designed to create someone (or multiple someones) with a very specific frame of mind?

Edit: Alternatively, given what the pinky finger implies, are these characters being made to suffer as much as humanly possible to pay penance for some perceived sleight made by... I dunno, Sara's dad? Or would that be too Danganronpa?

My theory at this point is that it's designed to train Sara for 'greatness'. The winner of the previous Death Game went on to take over the underworld, they want Sara to be their successor.

That doesn't seem all that likely, considering that Sara apparently has an 85% chance of dying. I would definitely believe that some people in the organization are trying for that result (most likely Sara's father) but the game itself seems to be neutral as to who should win.

Who's to say that Sara's chances of survival actually mean anything? We've been shown that not only do the people running the game have the ability to make lifelike duplicates of whoever they want, but that they can even be given the full suite of memories and experiences that the living person had. Have we been shown anything that shows that Sara is actually alive, and not a Doll being tested for how "accurate" she is to Sara?
