i don't understand putting the log up so high on something. i was always taught and showed a technique using a heavier maul head, where you basically are just heaving the head of the maul up, and then assisting it in reaching the log. it is not an actual "swing' like a tennis or baseball swing. you're letting the weight of the maul and gravity do most of the work
