Thanks to Ted Lasso I'm starting to see thinkpieces on the pivot from irony to sincerity, and while that commentary is as overblown as most generalizations, I'd be happy for it. I cannot loving stand cringe comedy. I wish I could remember where I read this, because it's so insightful, but someone said a certain type of personality tends to be absolutely horrified at cringe comedy, and those aren't so much "good" people, but people who had to socialize more into empathy than had it naturally. That's me to a T.
I understand that Larry David is probably a comedy genius; don't wanna watch him. I loved parts of the League but some I just couldn't watch. I have no problem with mean (gently caress, Letterkenny is as mean-spirited a comedy as I can remember and I love it), but cringe is awful.

If you've ever realized you've been a horrible douche about something your whole life, I think cringe comedy gets destroyed retroactively.

I've also been bullied and gaslit, and cringe poo poo triggers all sorts of horrible anxieties I developed.

Don't worry, it'll collapse under its collectively convoluted weight eventually. There's a reason the general public glazes over when you get into the real nuts and bolts of comic universes.

I can't stand any of the main characters except Toby (the HR guy). Side characters, I liked a few. Toby was generally fine, came across entirely as an introvert with social anxieties. Somewhere in the later seasons, everyone is convinced he's a serial killer because of coincidences, but really shows that they know nothing about him, even after years of working with him. Michael pretty much shits on him nonstop for the entire series though, and he's constantly ignored by everyone.

I also didn't mind the warehouse folks. Craig Roberson was good for the small parts he got on the show. But they rarely shot warehouse scenes.

And when Jim transfers to another branch, that cast of characters seemed more normal and likeable.

There's so much goddamn dumb poo poo to that show, and I'm running on memories from when I was married nearly a decade ago.

Navy confirms the Mercer Street was attacked by drones. Various ships with ties to Iran and Israel have been sabotaged or damaged off and on for years, but this is a significant escalation, given that it killed two people, a Brit and a Romanian, and the attack struck the bridge. It wasn’t a limpet mine that just so happened to kill someone belowdecks or a fire getting out of hand after cargo was hit and killing someone.

Israel now making the public case to gather international consensus for some type of response.

Unfortunately as before when there was no vaccine. Assholes don't have the good grace to just let Jesus take the wheel. They get covid and take up hospital resources. enough get it suddenly "innocent" people can't get medical resources. This is all aside from someone creating a crazy new strain because it's allowed to pass back and fourth between people. As satisfying as "fuckem" is the exact opposite needs to happen with commandos running in and vaxing people

I'm going to be really, really loving pissed if I can't get my kidney stones and stent out because they cancel elective surgeries in 1-3 weeks. I'm happy that with vaccinations, a lot more of the "right" people are dying (idiot antivaxxers) nowadays, but it's not 100%. Plus, if the hospitals get crammed (Florida), hella people going to end up dead that had nothing to do with COVID. I'd probably be mentally dead if it wasn't for hospital drugs and physically dead if they didn't have a quick emergency-surgery option.

I'm happy to see the mandates coming, it's loving time.

I actually like Curb in small amounts because the absurdity sort of overwhelms the cringe. Plus JB Smoove is impossibly hilarious. The Office was best when it got absurd, but when it tried to stay realistic (like the basketball game in the first season, I think) it was just excruciating.

Huh woah I have not thought about this much in depth but yeah this post and the other regarding being a former dbag and bring in abusive situations really tracks a lot.

Cringe comedy literally makes me physically uncomfortable at some point. I'm not huge on slapstick either beyond a small amount that's probably just a matter of preference.

I'm pretty sure you're not going to shock an investigator with weird terminology like that. You need to spice up your google searches if you plan on getting to someone who probably sees exploitative child porn on a semi-regular basis.

I watched the show up until that point, although looking back on the parts I found funny, I kinda hate that I did. Jim was a bully, in hindsight. Although what caused the series to jump the shark for me, at the time, was the blatant and clumsy Call of Duty product placement when he transferred to the new branch. Also Andy.

As a DC resident, I can state that Bowser is absolutely getting raked over the coals for this and also for her birthday party on Friday night that was also an indoor, maskless event (our new mask mandate went into effect on Saturday.) She's the epitome of an empty suit careerist politico- she endorsed Bloomberg in the primaries and then went to Biden's victory party in Delaware while claiming it was "essential travel." I can't think of a single person who likes her or sees her administration as anything other than slightly mediocre and middling, which means that she'll probably win reelection easily in 2022.

I like shells and cheese, or the liquid cheese, but not 3x the price of powdered.

Making actual mac and cheese like 10% more work than the blue box, and 10x better. If you're using cheddar or whatever, it's a bit more work because you need to shred it yourself. Bagged shredded cheese is coated with poo poo that prevents it from melting together properly. Absolutely worth it, though, and I say that as someone who hates cooking and is not good at it.

Looks like Japanese police intervened, so she didn't get hauled back to Belarus, and she'll now be looking to apply for asylum somewhere.
