Hey, if I have to air block one of those then that still drops me right into kamuriyuki range. Although like half the Axls I run into seem more than happy to run right into melee range anyway, which is a bit of a surprise, if not an unwelcome one.

Separating Celestial players out and barring them from floor 10 would be a start, but they really need to do something about filling out the lower floors. Maybe get rid of that dumb "can't go down more than two floors" rule for starters.

Please don't lock us out of 10. That limits our options for learning new characters to the park and celestial.

Hammerfall? The dashing punch? That's an easy punish on block when Pot has no meter. Gives lots of characters a free knockdown. From what I gather, Pot Buster is not Pot's number 1 goal. It's his "caught you slipping" or "conditioned you to down back" move. I didn't really start getting hit with it until Celestial floor, but I'm not a Pot player.

I usually get hosed by Garuda more than anything else. Corner Garuda loops are ridiculous, and apparently meaty Garuda BRC forward pot buster is guaranteed. That's something celestial Pot's have been destroying me with this past week. Meaty Garuda forces an incredibly strong meterless strike/throw mixup, too. Your opponent has to jump to escape a buster (I think it's a kara buster, but again I don't play him) and a low will catch jumps.

The easiest way to get risk-free Potemkin Buster opportunities is probably Garuda Impact, that thing is ludicrously plus on block, very meaty and if they get hit by it you can just walk up to them and do it more or less.

Garuda (hit) into pot buster is guaranteed without any RC and without needing a meaty. He can also get guaranteed buster off of the CH 2S stagger-stun, and it he can delay it after c.S to frametrap and fish for counterhits. It's impossible to guarantee a command grab off of any block pressure though since you can always hold up frame 1 after blockstun ends.

If you're not in the corner you can reversal backdash against meaty garuda. Garuda will hit you out of the backdash which does a small chunk of damage but also sends you flying fullscreen so he can't mix afterwards. Up to you whether it's worth paying that health tax to avoid a potential buster mixup (or 2K 2D into another meaty garuda).

this isn't possible, you're ungrabbable during guard crush and prejump so holding up will work here.
however, meaty garuda -> garuda is a block string.

ex post facho posted:

assuming you're in range, the opponent is maybe in blockstun or hitstun or just got out of it. you have 5 frames of throw invulnerability after recovering from all three of those states (edit: meant knockdown as well. that's the third one). (not guard crush though!)

Don't spam hammerfall, you're minus a billion on block and when people wake up and realize they're holding a controller in their hands, they WILL eat you alive if you just let them block that. Only let the full attack rip if you're certain you're going to hit, or if you have meter to cancel because you can get pressure going if you hammerfall into someone and cancel while they're blocking. For combos look at the Dustloop page, but Potemkin combos are all pretty short and sweet. Basically just like f.S, 5HS if you catch people at range, 5K, 2D, Hammerfall Break or Megafist for up close low knockdown situations, either for wakeup pressure or just raw damage. Up close you can do c.S/2S, 2H, Megafist/Heat Knuckle. Honestly depending how low of a floor you're on you can basically just do 5K, 2D, Hammerfall repeatedly until they learn to block low on wakeup. That's usually fun. As for whiffing potemkin buster, that's usually because you haven't trained your opponent to fear getting punched in the face. Everyone knows Potemkin can Buster them. Everyone knows it does a billion damage. If you're in buster range, no one is going to want to stay there and take it, so they'll jump, and if someone's just holding up back you'll never buster them. You have to punch them in the face when they try to jump out to MAKE them stop jumping. Keep bashing their teeth in every time they try to escape until they learn to just sit there and block, and once they're afraid to push buttons or jump, THEN you throw them. Either that or you're doing it too early, people are unthrowable for 5 frames after blockstun or wakeup from knockdown.

For strategy stuff, backwards megafist is a great way to get out of pressure sometimes. If a May keeps doing TOTSUGEKI, or someone's just running at you or someone's leaving a gap in their pressure, you can megafist back and they'll run into it. If you get a counterhit you can launch them with 2H and do whatever your favorite followup is. Whenever you knock someone down at close range, do a garuda impact on them as they get up and they'll be forced to block it, and then they're stuck there in block stun for a year and you can do whatever you want to them. They don't even have throw protection off that so if you time it right you can buster them immediately after coming out of blockstun, and in the corner they land in front of your feet and you can just do it again. Basically your game plan is to use your giant long arms to make people scared to approach you or push buttons in your presence, you knock them down, get on top of them, and force scary strike/buster mixups on them.

Edit: Also 5P is a good anti air for people just airdashing in at you and it's really, really fun to go 5P, 5P, heat knuckle on someone doing the same air approach over and over again.

Yeah that's not guaranteed, but garuda BRC poo poo IS extremely scary because it means pot can use 5D and get a true combo so you now have a full on high/low/throw mixup which is terrifying.

I'd also add, learn which jumpins you can reliably 2H (ie- Gio's 214S in her typical blockstring) because if it connects there's a very easy damaging followup in Heat Knuckle.
Dunno if 6P leads to better followups compared to 2H, tho.

2H leads to way better rewards than 6P but it's massively slower so i wouldn't advise using it on reaction to things. in fact 5P is often a handier anti-air than 6P

edit whoops it's only 2 frames slower than 6P. but it doesn't have the upper body invul which means you'll get counterhit a lot attempting it where you wouldn't with 6P

2H also has shorter horizontal range and is worse on whiff, so if you try to read a jumpin with it and mess up it's easier for a grounded opponent to punish you.

And yeah you can combo 5p 5p heat knuckle as an antiair.

The numbers on the badges are the tiers/thresholds. There'll be new badge art (or at least a new color) for reaching 10, 20, 100, etc... (I don't know what the actual threshold numbers are), and the number on the badge is actually part of the art.
So if it says "20" it actually means "anywhere between 20 and 99" (or whatever the actual next badge is after 20).

big deal
Sep 10, 2017

the badges "upgrade" at various thresholds, so when my winstreak grows to 100 due to my impeccable play i'll get a badge that says 100 there. like i have a few "vs character" badges that just say 10, because there are only a few characters i've gotten 10+ wins on at this point (i assume this is only counting tower matches and not player lobbies) but i've seen people with a 100 version of those badges.
