Hi Dorkroom! It’s been a while. You may or may not know that there’s a weekly flash fiction contest in CC called Thunderdome, which is now in its tenth year! This week, I thought it’d be fun to get some cross-forum collaborations happening, and let the writers in the Thunderdome take inspiration from your photos of parking lots and abandoned buildings. Please use this thread to post photos you’d like to see goons try to write words about! The writers will choose a photo from this thread (or I’ll assign them, if they prefer to be surprised) and write a short story inspired by it. If you’d like to try your hand at writing your own story inspired by someone else’s photo, it’d be great to see you join the Thunderdome yourself! I figure anyone who’s posted in the dorkroom long enough is thoroughly bloodied already, what’s a few more battlescars?  Feel free to message me if you have any questions

A big welcome to our Thunderdome guests, please take a look around! This is a rad idea, I've got a few photos in mind but knew that this one had to go into the hopper. It's always been very evocative of a specific mood to me.

Thanks all for submitting some really great photos! The sign-up for writers has now “officially” ended, but because there were so many great photos submitted, I’m going to allow sign-ups for another day in the hopes that you can each have a story written about one of your photos. Otherwise, the stories will start to trickle in over the weekend before the official deadline of Monday 6PM AEST / Sunday midnight PST. Really looking forward to seeing what they make of these photos!

Thanks again to all who submitted a photo! The stories are now all in and judged, and you can view the results here if you’re interested. The stories, so far, are as below. Note that not everyone who selected a photo actually ended up writing the story in time, but I’m hopeful there may be some redemptions later on.
