When I was very, very, very broke, my favorite game was Stay Up Until Midnight When the Direct Deposit Hits, because I would inevitably be so hungry I was shaking, and would walk to the 24 hour Walmart to get groceries and would absolutely be the goblin eating a candy bar in the checkout lane. That was when I was still too proud to shoplift food and still working "too much" to qualify for most of the food distribution and EBT. I will not lie, some of my favorite foods are only my favorite because of the dopamine I would get from having any food at all at midnight on payday. |
