I liked the eccw shows I went to but Scotty Mac is a antivax chud and the other owner got speaking outed so I wont be supporting them anymore. there are shows running in the bc interior but the other local indy ASW hasnt started back up yet. I miss it.

I know "____ was always bad" is a bit of a cliche around here but I have maintained that Trips sucked in some form or fashion since I was like...10. So I will take the high score medal for being right all along. It doesn't make up for all the other Ls I've taken along the way, but it's some comfort.

The central difference between Triple H and Cody for me is in both what they're trying to do and how they're trying to do it I could be very wrong but my general impression of Cody is that he wants his legacy to be a successful wrestling promotion. He's ambitious enough right now to feel that the best way to get there is for him to be a top guy and build other people up. Sometimes that involves him winning matches I'd rather he lost, but it also means that beating Cody can absolutely make you. Triple H on the other hand wants his legacy to be that he was every bit as popular and over as The Rock and Stone Cold. Which he wasn't. So he has to compensate. In terms of how they do it, Cody wins a lot but he also spends a lot of time in and out of the ring getting other people over. Doing things like the Fuego stuff on Sammy's vlog didn't get Cody over but it sure as hell made people care about Fuego. The whole Nightmare Family setup might make Cody look like a big deal but primarily it gives his trainees greater status and opportunity. You wouldn't have got Lee Johnson's excellent performance against Miro without Cody and Dustin mentoring him. Triple H by contrast seems largely to get over at the expense of people, no matter how many "points at the guy" selfies he takes.

My time as a wrestling fan as a child was pretty limited, more or less 99-01 WWF. I can honestly say that Triple H was the single wrestler who most turned me off from the show. Even if the comparisons between Triple H and Cody being extremely self-indulgent are fair (they aren't), Cody at least has the decency to put on matches that are entertaining.

Even at Cody's most self indulgent he was doing self contained segments that took up, what? Like 15 minutes? If he was doing more than that it generally ended with someone else going over. At Triple H's worst he was making GBS threads up the whole show and everything revolved around him. Cody gets destroyed by his own hubris as a face, while heel HHH barely faced any comeuppance.
