Roasted corn is fine on an "artisan" pizza but lmao letting it anywhere near a burg/hot dog

especially since much of it just appears to be kernels of sweet corn, specifically not roasted

You see what that is?

That's corn flavored ice cream on a stick. Served in Brazil.
Now explain to me why that exists.
Literally frozen cream corn on a stick.

Why is there so much corn going on in Brazil? You don't see corn ice cream in Iowa.

corn good

actual reason: it's sweet corn, we have multiple corn varieties optimized for sweetness and immediate consumption, very different from animal feed corn or syrup/oil corn

every brazilian beach has it's unsung heroes bringing corn to the uncorned masses

yes because then it would be corn on the cob which is good

In the US people pretty much only eat sweet corn when eating it directly (as opposed to eating cornmeal in a tortilla or something). But in a lot of other countries it's common to eat the starchy, non-sweet type. When I was in China I grabbed a roasted corn on the cob from a street vendor and my Chinese friend was like "Are... you sure you want that?" I'm like why wouldn't I, it's just corn on the cob lol, then I took the first bite and was very surprised with what I got.

i have had burgers in brasil just loving swimming in corn like a toddler in a piss filled ball pit and they were absolutely delicious. so question for all y'all corn haters: would you eat corn on the cob with a burger on the same plate? loose corn? elotes? buttered and/or cheesy hominy?

Corn is great. It's just a weird thing on many plates and places outside of the US have sure uh.... expanded on it's uses.

Me? I like corn on the cob, grilled, dipped in melted butter, and have some salt put on it. Mostly at a Catholic church fair, which are rampant here. They have huge corn roasters. Specifically designed for roasting corn on a type of belt fed thing like pizza places.

Throwing a single handful of loose corn on top of a pizza is loving weird. Yes, it is. Corn is an ingredient, not a condiment.

poo poo, corn is a grain. It can be ground into a flour and used as a base for everything. You can make bread with it.

You don't see a pizza place saying "Hey, we have this lovely margarita pizza topped with a handful of pieces of wheat."

Or, "Hey, here is your hamburger with a sprinkling of oats on it."

That's just loving weird.

It's probably just a cultural difference. But corn here is a building block of dishes. Not a loving condiment like ketchup. Which I'd be very upset, and not surprised, if Brazil put ketchup on a pizza.

Well sure, corn in salsa is great. But it's more of an afterthought and not the main ingredient. Although I do very much enjoy it. I like the bite that it has. Also, salsa, in itself, is a condiment.

Throwing random corn on a loving pizza or hamburger is just weird. I guess it's just foreign to a dumb American like myself. But I would find it very strange if I walked into a diner here and asked for a chicken fried steak and they threw a few kernels of corn on top.

Loose corn is just an Awful Food Porn joke, same thread that 'small pastry' came from. We turned it into a square on the AFP bingo game, if there was a few kernels tossed on top instead of being part of the dish, or on the table, or just a pile of unseasoned or sad-looking corn on a plate, you stamped "loose corn" on your playing card.

It turned out to be the most common 'issue' behind "burned" or "why is it wet".

It's called starchy corn. Guess what it tastes like.

I actually like it, it's just a shock if you were expecting sweet corn. It's not sweet at all and is pretty much a cooked grain on the cob.

Eh, it wasn't bad I guess, but I'd hardly call it good either. It kinda struck me as a subsistence food, something whose purpose is to pack as many calories into a little handheld thing as possible. It's probably nice if you're walking around all day and need some energy, but a tasty treat it is not.
