Yamai is fine. You guys are like the 4chan posters who won’t stop complaining about the way the author draws Manbagi’s eyes these days. You’re all going to have aneurysms when the anime starts and you have to watch OG Yamai again, before she made friends and joined a band and mellowed out. Meanwhile the broader anime audience will be too busy flipping out over early-series Horny Najimi to care about anyone else.

You'll see that quite often in Japan since it's often customary to remove your shoes in the genkan or vestibule of certain establishments (and definitely if you are going to someone's house) . Going barefoot in a house not your own is considered poor manners, and the presence of guest slippers isn't a given so sock wearing ( or carrying a clean pair of socks or slippers with you) is pretty prevalent. Considering how timid Komi's character is, she's totally the type to wear socks with sandals.
