Got a notification that NOITA was 40% off, it looks a like a real fun all-physics Wizard-em-up, but it might be a little twitchy for me

noita is fun, to be good it is probably twitchy but it's also fun to just embrace the chaos

I can't recommend noita enough. You advance mostly by understanding the enemies and environment, lucking out on perks, and by building good wands. Once you do something terminally stupid (which you will, frequently) twitch skills probably aren't going to save your rear end

But when you finally get that perfect combination of perks and wands you feel like a loving god

noita's great but IMO the Edit Wands Everywhere mod is required

a big chunk of the fun, at least to me, is from messing around with wands and spells that you acquire, but most of those acquisitions aren't going to be from the level-interstitial shops where you can always edit wands; they're around the world, where you can't do that in vanilla (without the perk the mod is named after)

the mod balances itself in a way, anyway; i've lost count of the number of times i've got my rear end shot to death because I was loving around in the menu with spellcraft and drop my wand or something clicking frantically :v:

Whoa, the PS4/5 version (and all the others, I guess) of the Quake rerelease has bots in multiplayer. Hell loving yes. I used to love playing against them back in the day when I was stuck on a 14.4 modem.

picked up yakuza 0 for $4 on the PS store. So far I dig its style. The over-the-top melodrama amuses me as it whiplashes from silly to overly silly (I'm only on chapter 2) but I could see how it might turn some people off. The combat is pretty low-impact and simple, but so far I dig it. Love the money flying off everyone. The minigames are a little meh, but I can live with them as long as the story keeps firing the way it comes out the gate

so i got the razer kishi and it made quick comfy gaming so nice I forgot to post about it here lol. thanks for the rec!

I've been playing a lot of controller-friendly indies with steam link from my back catalogue, but a promising new one that just went into early access called Death Trash ate a decent chunk of time recently between the demo and the early access partial game

http://deathtrash.com

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D1oA9yUrnlY

it's an action rpg game where you're kicked out of your bunker into a desolate hellish landscape of blood lakes and living piles of meat, weird partial titans, roaming bands of the insane, raiders, and pilgrims visiting the flesh monstrosities enshrined in the ruins of whatever the world once was. the game has a fallout 1-2 vibe with its own mythos and grotesque goofy humor

since its early access, the main story isn't finished, but it has an active and involved small team that is adding and adjusting almost daily. it's been really neat to see how much it refined from the demo in July to the early release now

I'll have to check that out, I've finished most of the game so far so it'll be interesting to see their take on it

I can't imagine it being done in the next year, unless they're secretly sitting in a pile of quests and story content. it's possible, they've been open about using early access to tweak and balance combat and mechanics, but they seem to be sticking to flexible skill checks and solutions and it'd lose a part of the appeal if that fell away in the late game

I don't know whether Death Trash will be done anytime soon. I feel like I was 'following' it for like 2 years and then they finally launch but it's early access and only part of the game

I’m on the home stretch of yakuza 4 right now. i can’t believe all the time i’m sinking into these games. the number of callbacks and characters you run into again, entire games later, is insane. i actually feel like i’ve been a regular at the ramen place after helping the chef and his customers over the years.

just another day playing a organized crime brawler.

my only real complaint is that the 80s setting of yakuza 0 is so good but the rest of the games are decades later

I'm playing on PS4 with low res but all the frills and it looks incredible. One of the things I love the most is how much variation there is in levels and between levels in terms of architecture and whatnot, I guess it's cos it's all hand-crafted brush by brush rather than the instanced stuff you get in modern FPSs.
