I’m not just talking about rap-metal Limp Bizkit wannabes tho, but bands like Shinedown and Avenged Sevenfold. that might be too broad of a definition of nu-metal tho 🤷♂️

the watch is too big!quote:You might think this kvetching is akin to when a vocal group of folks claimed they hated oversized iPhones, but when the iPhone 12 Mini launched, they didn’t put their money where their mouths were. I’ll admit, larger screens allow for better readability. But a smartwatch differs from your phone in a crucial way—you actually have to wear it. Advanced features are neat, but they’re not useful if a smartwatch is too uncomfortable to wear.

i didn't get a 12 mini bc my iphone 8 works fine. i'll probably buy one if i drop this one in the tub though. i also like the fingerprint reader but that's clearly a fight i can't win so 🤷♀️ that's right it's time for another epsom salt bath!!!!

in absolute terms, there are surely people who would buy a 12 mini if they found themselves in the market for a new phone, but who did not buy one in the first few months they were available because they had no good reason to buy a new phone. in percentage terms, though, you have to assume that the people who would abstractly prefer a 12 mini are substantially overrepresented in the sample of people who bought new phones at that time. and at least some of those people are borderline cases and would really be just as happy with a larger phone. so the question is whether it's worthwhile for apple to design, source, manufacture, and sell a product line that benefits maybe 2-3% of their customers. and i mean, maybe? maybe it is, i dunno. i'm sure there are companies that make a profit selling fewer phones than apple sold 12 minis

yeah. i hope they keep the form factor though. i really hate the idea that it's somehow my responsibility as a customer/consumer to buy product i want even if don't need them to show companies i want that product. it's a weird and toxic viewpoint - an extension of the idea that it's my responsibility to reward companies that do non lovely stuff rather than companies' responsibility to not be lovely. that being extended to the mere existence of a product is even stranger
