Time to order glue sticks from aliexpress to fix your problem

I see how this is going to go:

T+2 months:

All my glue sticks arrived from Aliexpress, but they are all stuck together. I've tried prying them apart with the stickers but they are stuck in there now. Ordering some glue solvent.

T+4 months:

The glue solvent arrived after going through the Netherlands and let me get the glue sticks off each other and the stickers, but now the front of the stickers are sticky and the backs are covered in this substance that other glues won't bond to - I've tried superglue, normal glue, and PVA. It does stick with epoxy but mixing it's a pain and it tends to bleed through the page and stick the calendar pages together. Any suggestions?

Dude, ix-nay on the oice-vay.

I was telling a friend about how weird it was that cat stuff from Ali seems to often include a cat’s testicles. Then, because I get lots of resin molds from Aliexpress AND I look at miniature offerings of everyday objects because I think they are hilarious, Aliexpress showed me this:

US $64.50 57% Off | 1/6doll- Sphinx cat Joint Doll Free Eyes
https://a.aliexpress.com/_mOZvi8P

She was pretty creeped out by it.

Edit: damnit. Beaten.

I just remembered how funny I thought it was, when I studied abroad in japan 20 years ago, that hamtaro merch include a little cartoon anus. It was just an “x” iirc. But still weird as hell from my perspective.

I have one without the little plastic dome thing. It works, but it probably won't say, write exactly where you expect it to, since it's basically emulating a finger. Perfectly good enough for jotting down a note on a kindle or something. The real issue is that unless you're using an ipad or one of those samsung tablets or something with palm rejection, you have to be careful to keep your skin (or some headphone cables) off the screen, or you'll find yourself suddenly zooming out or whatever.

I already had some of the old fashioned ones with the big fat nubs. 10pc for 3€, https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000151947641.html. But I slowly gave out all of them to get the family boomers slowly used to touchscreens.
I wanted to know if the "active" ones do anything better. Especially if they are worth the 10x price.

Ooohh, suggestions for wireless mice:
Q: Is the scroll direction of the mouse USB connector and Bluetooth connection the same?
A: No, they are different. When using the USB connector, the scroll wheel slides in the same direction as the computer mouse. Bluetooth connection is the opposite.

Those don’t work for Palm rejection. They are to keep you from greasing up your tablet or paper with the heel of your hand when drawing and writing.

The lady that started marketing those commercially originally made them for her left handed daughter since her daughter was getting frustrated with how smeary her notes were getting in middle school.

I do recommend those gloves over making your own due to the comfort of the fabric on the parts of your hand they touch while drawing.

In my experience, Palm rejection doesn’t work very well with styli made to pair with expensive tablets that you can use gestures on. Maybe it’s gotten better since an iOS update killed my cpu.

My friend has an iPad Pro with the Apple Pencil and it seems to work great, haven't tried it that much myself but I imagine it works better than any weird Ali product. There's also a Wacom pen that I have no idea about how good it is or not.

My friend does tattoos and it's a godsend for that, you can take a pic of someone's arm or whatever, make an overlay of the design to see if it looks good in the position it's supposed to go, then you can print if out to make a perfect looking stencil when it's time to do the actual tattoo. I think a lot of pro tattoo artists use them nowadays.

ipad + apple pencil revolutionized my ability to practice and learn art skills, and while I couldn't replace traditional art with it entirely, it's truly something that any artist should have around if it's affordable, it's that much of a game changer

Subjunctive posted:

I hate to recommend amazon but you can just get a pack of offbrand silicon stylus nibs for a tiny, tiny fraction of the price that Apple charges and they're the same exact thing. I bought these:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B089Y2W56J/

20 cents each, compared to the $3.75 each that Apple charges, and each one lasts me longer than an officially branded Apple one

edit: Lol I bought this pack in January and I am still using the very first nib I pulled out of it. Comparatively I went through 4 apple branded nibs in 2 months, and during that 2 months with the apple branded ones they fell apart and scratched up my screen pretty bad due to wear and tear - this off-brand one has never done that

Different frog, and also the artist has been on a pretty big campaign to take the image back that you can argue was successful.

Palm rejection works great with Wacom EMR because the stylus is detected when it's close to the screen, and touch can be turned off. Obviously this requires the right tech and won't work with $1 Ali styluses

Yeah the sleeve thing is a good idea if you're really drawing a lot and not just doodling or making a few note here and there.
