Agreed! I played it a bit and I like it so far, although eventually I came to a cave troll and got my rear end ravaged. But it's exactly what it says on the tin. Looks amazing and realistic and just has a nice feel about it. The background music, which at times is like this Old Norse eerie chanting, sets the stage well too. I'm not that far into it and I'm not saying it's some incredibly work of art, but so far I like it a lot.

OPUS: Echo of Starsong is a very nice-looking game that I'm surprised I hadn't heard a thing about until now. It's mainly a narrative adventure game but also has puzzle elements, apparently.

Echo of Starsong is a Narrative puzzle adventure game. Eda, a girl who can hear mysterious sound waves known as starsong, crosses paths with a young man in search of their source. Together, they venture out to the heart of space to unravel an ancient myth.

Asteroids emitting a sound known as "Starsongs" have become the center of conflict for the immense power they hold. Determined to claim asteroids of his own, a young man ventures out with a girl who can imitate starsongs, lending her voice to unravel an ancient myth deep in the heart of space.

deep dish peat moss posted:

I felt this way at first, but the more I've played the more I've been seeing the value of all of the 'chaff spells' I'd normally ignore - if a spell seems useless, you're just not connecting the dots with the ways it can synergize with other things (which is an easy predicament to be in in Rift Wizard, and also what I love about it). Now that I got my first win they're much more appealing to me because the meat of the game is finding ways to beat it with new builds rather than playing with the same build every time. Like yeah Lightning Bolt is extremely strong and you can beat the game with it, which is sort of like playing the game on an easier difficulty. I almost won as a bear summoner earlier, and again as a poisoner who would posion entire maps then cause all the poison to explode. Lately I am building entirely around the Shrines I find which is hella fun.

If your goal is just to beat the game and be done with it, you'll probably be finished with Rift Wizard within 5-20 hours and not enjoy it all that much - but if you enjoy the process of theorizing, creating, and deploying character builds with a million different viable options, it's an addictive mess.

At the end of the day you don't have to take the 'staples' unless you want to.

This is my favorite racing game series of all time! WRC has somewhat recently become the best rally series on the market. WRC 10 looks to continue that legacy. It's a beautiful game that looks insanely realistic at racing speeds and feels fantastic with a wheel. You can play without a wheel, both keyboard and controller work, but of course it's preferable to have one. It does have Mixed review right now, I am guessing since it probably doesn't offer enough new stuff. Still gonna get it without a doubt.

WRC 10 History Mode puts your driving talents to the test through 19 historical events that require you to adapt to racing conditions of each time period.

Never-before-seen content for WRC:
- The 4 new 2021 rallies: Estonia, Croatia, Belgium and Spain
- 6 historic rallies including Acropolis, San Remo, Germany and Argentina
- 120 special stages
- 52 official teams from the 2021 season (WRC, WRC2, WRC3, Junior WRC),
- 20 legendary cars from Alpine, Audi, Lancia, Subaru, Ford, Mitsubishi, Toyota, and more...

Career Mode, unanimously hailed as one of the best-developed and most complete in a racing game, has also been comprehensively upgraded and now includes a livery editor, so you can create your own team and add your colours to contemporary cars!

I picked up The Magister hoping it'd be Overboard with procedural mysteries. It doesn't play like Overboard. All the NPCs have dialogue locked behind grinding reputation with them. They send you on sidequests like solving secondary mysteries and helping in fights. It's also a card battler with Griftlands' dialogue fights and combat. It seems competently made, but it's not quite my thing so I haven't done more than half an hour.

I've played about two hours and I like it. It is very much primarily a card battler with two separate decks (one for physical combat, one for social stuff) and you're running these side quests to get up to three stars with the NPCs so they'll open up to you about what they know. I'm not done with a run yet, but you have 14 in-game days to solve the murder and it seems like it'll end up being sort of Clue-ish at the end where I'm going to know like "okay, the killer was a smoker, I know these three characters smoke, I know this person had an alibi, etc" and then have to deduce (or educated guess at) the answer.

I think it's going to be somewhat repetitive on subsequent runs since from what I understand it's always a magister murdered at the inn and some things will be the same like having to do the initial social combat to calm down the barmaid, etc, but the clues and solution will be different each time. I like the gameplay enough to where I can see myself doing a run every so often (the dev says a single run to completion takes about 4-6 hours which seems about right).

For $12.75 on sale I like it. At $20 or maybe even the non-sale price of $15, it'd probably feel overpriced to me.

Golf Club Wasteland (or Golf Club: Wasteland, it seems inconsistent with the name) is a chill 2D 'golf' (more like mini golf) game where you are touring the broken wasteland of earth to play golf. Only 7.49, right now, which is good pricing imo

Piece together the full story of how humanity fell through three distinct sources. Details from the lone golfer’s story, who's come back to Earth for one last game. The Radio Nostalgia From Mars broadcast that gives a glimpse into the lives of those who escaped. And the narration of a “secret spectator” watching from a distance...

Be accompanied by a purposefully composed soundtrack as well as personal stories broadcasted on Radio Nostalgia From Mars. The station caters to citizens of Mars, nostalgic for Earth as they listen to music from the 2020s, and dial in to share their memories of the planet. Nice looking little 3D puzzle game: Tiny Robots Recharged

quote:

It was all fun and games until the bad guy took your friends. It's not their fault he built his super-secret laboratory next to the park.

https://cdn.cloudflare.steamstatic.com/steam/apps/256841491/movie480_vp9.webm?t=1627491996

Residual is a nonviolent survival crafting thing with a bunch of procgen planets I think

quote:

In a forgotten galaxy full of strange planets, you crash-land on one with the ancient mystery. Craft tools and mining devices. Hostile biological life, and more stand between the voyager and survival. You’ll have your snarky and occasionally helpful Personal Disaster Bot with you the entire way.

https://cdn.cloudflare.steamstatic.com/steam/apps/256768964/movie480.webm?t=1579132968

The Artful Escape is a narrative musical game of some kind, although I'm unclear on what the gameplay is exactly, assuming there is any

quote:

A teenage guitar prodigy sets out on a psychedelic journey to inspire his stage persona and confront the legacy of a dead folk legend. Starring voice performances by Michael Johnston, Caroline Kinley, Lena Headey, Jason Schwartzman, Mark Strong, and Carl Weathers.

https://cdn.cloudflare.steamstatic.com/steam/apps/256842914/movie480_vp9.webm?t=1626440550

Dice Legacy is a roguelike citybuilder with dice involved. Mixed reviews at the moment

quote:

Dice Legacy is a dice-based survival city builder set on a mysterious ringworld. Your ship has reached the shore of an uncharted continent. Roll and use your dice to gather resources, expand and defend your settlement, survive the winter and interact with the strange inhabitants of this eerie world.

https://cdn.cloudflare.steamstatic.com/steam/apps/256841023/movie480_vp9.webm?t=1625058334

Arboria is a very weird looking Trollz-inspired 3D roguelite

quote:

Fight, die, and fight again in this dark fantasy trollz-like roguelite. As a Yotun troll warrior, descend into the ever-changing, creepy dungeons of Durnar. Use a variety of Symbiotic Weapons and Bio-Mutations to slay enemies and heal The Father Tree.

https://cdn.cloudflare.steamstatic.com/steam/apps/256843954/movie480_vp9.webm?t=1627546239

Another puzzle game, this one is not easy but I really like the way it's set up. Two Hundred Ways (sequel to One Hundred Ways)

quote:

Two Hundred Ways gives puzzle fans twice as many mental challenges to overcome. The mission of each of its 200 levels sounds easy: guide one or more balls to the exit. But levels with up to three different layers and numerous ball traps don't make this task a walk in the park.

Also Webbed looks awesome, hell yeah gonna get that one
