Okay, it looks like most of the AEW nominations are in so hopefully this doesn't get missed because these matches rule MOTYC: Takayuki Ueki vs. Jun Kasai - FREEDOMS Jun Kasai Produce Tokyo Deathmatch Carnival 2021: Volume 2 (8/30) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CRxNR15ze5c Probably the most entertaining match of the year. The hottest I've heard Korakuen this year to the point where FREEDOMS had to put out a notice the next day reminding fans of the rules due to all of the shrieks, gasps and laughter this ridiculous match caused. Ueki coming to FREEDOMS has proven to be one of the best career moves all year. MOTYC: Violento Jack (c) vs. Masashi Takeda for the King of FREEDOM Championship - FREEDOMS Jun Kasai Produce Tokyo Deathmatch Carnival 2021: Volume 2 (8/30) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BO16ALujbvc While Ueki/Kasai was all shtick with big funny gimmicks, this was just straight up violence between the two best deathmatch wrestlers in the whole world right now. A flying start set a wild pace that only slowed down for a big out of the ring spot (which are getting kind of overdone in big FREEDOMS main events). There's a reason these guys only wrestle each other once every three years.

AEW All Out HM: Chuck Taylor/Orange Cassidy/Wheeler Yuta/Jurassic Express vs. HFO. This was the perfect buy-in match, great quality clean goofy fun. Could easily have been part of the main event despite the fact that they put it together on less than a week's notice. MOTYC: Miro vs Eddie Kingston. Superb wrestling all round, and the finish becomes great in retrospect with Miro's tweet that he did in fact redeem deez nuts. HM: Jon Moxley vs Satoshi Kojima. I don't know Kojima so no particular hype on my end, but it's hard to go below HM when you put Moxley in the ring with someone good. MOTYC: Britt Baker vs Kris Statlander. Hey, remember when Britt's in-ring work was mediocre at best? Now she's beating Kris loving Statlander without heel antics in a nailbiting match and making it look glorious. Face turn incoming and I'm here for it. MOTY: Lucha Bros vs Young Bucks. gently caress your "contender" bullshit. HM: Women's Casino Battle Royale. What can I say, I'm a sucker for the format.  Withholding judgement for now: Jericho vs MJF. If this was Jericho winning the right to retire on his own terms as the commentary booth was hinting, and he announces his retirement on Wednesday, then this was a MOTYC. Otherwise, despite being a great match on a technical level, it does sort of turn the five labours from an excellent retirement run into self-indulgent bullshit while also setting us up for another year or two of the same. I wanna see MJF go up against Sammy, dammit. HM: CM Punk vs Darby Allen. Quite a slow match to get going, but as someone who's never seen him before(!) this CM Punk fellow is quite intriguing. Withholding judgement for now: Kenny Omega vs Christian Cage. It was past 4 in the morning and my traitor drooping eyelids blocked my view for half the match. But the post-match swerve was loving excellent.
