BTW does getting a COVID nucleocapsid antibody test done for a kid require a doctor's referral, or can you just walk into a local urgent care and get it done? Also is this a $40 or >$400 test, or is that just not knowable until the insurer-provider billing process quantum superposition collapses?

I just got an update about my cousin, who I lost track of after he got banned from all family events. The first thing I learned from my aunt is that he got engaged in January. The second thing I learned is that they both got COVID recently, and his fiancee died of it. She says they just wouldn't stop going to bars, parties, etc. The third thing I learned was that he wants to hold a 'traditional Irish wake' at their favorite bar, which doesn't have outdoor seating. So, to summarize: his soon-to-be-wife died of COVID due to irresponsible partying, and he wants to hold a event that involves copious amounts of drinking (making masking basically impossible), at a bar, indoors. Jesus Christ.

I was basically told to make a gigantic change to my life with zero info other than that lovely, photocopied list that I could have put together in five seconds of Googling. I ended up spending a shitload of time researching foods to find out what was actually low sodium (and finding out that the hospital probably shouldn't have been feeding me some of the things that they did) and finding my own nutritionist, but it's super loving lovely to dump a huge lifestyle change on somebody with no real guidance while they're in the middle of dealing with everything else from a major diagnosis like that.
