jisforjosh posted:Honest question because I turn in game music off most of the time; how often does the main theme actually play in multiplayer matches? BF4 I think had it play at the end of every round, when it was down to the last 25 tickets or something or the equivalent in time. It worked nicely, faded in and built up louder and louder to peak right at the end game score screen. I think BF4 it was always the main dubstep theme. BF1 has a similar system at the end of the round, but instead of a single main theme I think there are unique themes for each faction or maybe the map? It works pretty nice in BF1 too. It works great in Operations when you are defending or attacking the final 2 objectives if one objective is taken it starts building up the music because the match is just one objective away from ending, and it will fade it out if the defenders push back and take back both objectives so it swells with the flow of the fight. Pretty cool and the BF1 music is just excellent anyway.

Electronic fart music is way better than classical fart music. At least I can pretend it's not farts when it's distorted.

I'm really trying to think of words to describe the latest BF intro rendition. The best I can do is "Metal fatigue". It's samples of groaning, stressed out metal construction, like a bridge or crane, that's been used to make a song. I mean "bad" also works. Can we have the BF3/4 farts back? Please?

Glitch music can be good, Glitchmob is good. There was that one song in bf3 which had a good break at about a minute and the theme really released which was cool. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iRN62IebC04 But the glitch sounds in that even went on too long and didn't really feel melodic in any way. That's how I think this new soundtrack sounds, too much glitch, too little melody. Bf4 was similar to this, so I guess they are trying to continue the musical theme by making it more degraded and mechanical thru the 3 games. Listening to this on crappy speakers would make it unbearable, you wouldn't hear any of the detail.

BF3's dubstep/farting theme was used extremely well in the marketing and in the campaign, such that while it doesn't really work as well on its own it's still extremely hype https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9DM7NsxOS0Q https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9MoREEHCkdE look at those fuckin' volumetric clouds in a game released 10 years ago https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PWgjWqPz_fk BF4, BF1, and BFV are extremely good looking games but I don't think they ever had anything that matched the sheer beauty of the halo jump or jet takeoff while the battlefield theme played https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JE_ERO-AOJI Assepoester fucked around with this message at 17:25 on Sep 11, 2021 |

Battlefield 1: 1. Turns out half the reason I had so much trouble with the plane controls in the campaign - "plane chase camera roll" is on by default. So every time I was trying to shoot at an enemy plane from up close, instead the game treated me to a lovely third-person view of my own plane. Joy. Figuring that out (and also "just slow down and keep repairing, and your tail-gunner will handle most fighter planes eventually") helped me at least finish every single campaign mission. 2. There's literally no way to report hackers on a different team \ kick hackers on your own? I thought TF2 had it bad... Managed to top-score today - got 5 kills as the gunner on an armored car as the round started, and the team was trapped in spawn by a hacking support player for the rest of the game. Nah the FOV being jacked up in the test coupled with faster movement speed for one of the Specialists really doesn't give a good feel for game speed. Am I doing something wrong or is the Muromat always wonky? I loaded into the anti-infantry one and could not select the scope, so had to guesstimate when to start dropping bombs but I also couldn't eject I had no choice but to die with the plane. I could do both those things with the support load out so what's going on?
