At the European Championships, Remco just chose not to draft in a 3-man group because it allowed him to take a marginally better line through some road furniture. Also he had been leading for like the 5 previous minutes e: also Colbrelli is in that group, so there's decent odds Remco will get owned anyway

It's completely mindblowing to me that he apparently, evidently thought he had a shot? He's like the anti-Nairo - he pulled that group (when it was a group) all on his own, and then when it was just him and Colbrelli he got mad at him for not taking a turn but just kept ITT-ing away anyway. Then he got absolutely murked in the sprint. And this surprised him?? Lmao

Looked like Remco was trying to get away on the final climb but Colbrelli was able to hang on. Once that happened he was basically out of options if we wanted on the podium

Well at least if he kept going he was guaranteed at least a silver instead of dropping back, letting another group catch up and having no certainties at all. He probably made the right decision this race. But yeah Remco seems like a very sore loser and has a lot of racecraft yet to learn. Lad is still only 21 years old though, that's easy to forget sometimes.

I'm gonna miss Chris Ankers commentary for every bike race that gets broadcast here in Denmark - he was really getting good at it, despite only having done it for a few years - both providing expert and color commentary about professional bike-riding as well as small bits about various places that the riders would pass by.
