Having trouble accepting that Bernal could be past his peak :(

:hmmrona:
I mean he won the Grio this year and finished top 10 in the Vuelta, I don't think it's fair to say he's fading just yet. If he can get his back right there's plenty of time to chase some more wins given that he's only 24. Not sure ISN is the place to do it but

Maybe he just misses Froomey

Bernal had the white jersey for a couple of weeks at the vuelta, and was grown up enough to not be worried about losing it. I don't think he's even remotely done as a rider. I guess he feels he'll clearly be the GC guy at ISN, but I dunno, I don't feel the support will be what he wants.

We had not left it yet, but when I would wake in the night, I would lie, listening, homesick for it already.

Bernal is allegedly off to Israel Startup

This is would be a terrible move and I'd be super surprised if it happens. If he's fit he's ineos's no.1 GC rider and the only person who is close to the Slovenians. If he does go ISN have a pretty lovely squad that won't be able to help him at all.

Early mount of the podium for a final wave to the fans. Possibly not intentional. Good lad.

Hes actually quite nice irl but his thing is time trials and he wants to be the absolute best at it he can be so you get stuff like this. I'd say he'd be the next Obree but hes working inside the bubble of british cycling too closely to do anything truly out there.

Depends what you mean by "the bubble", he's not exactly persona non gratia but he's not part of the system particularly, and it was a bit of a shock that he put himself forward for worlds.

Which streams have you guys been using to watch these UCI Flanders races?

The U23's are coming through my town today but I don't know if it'll actually be broadcast

Speaking of: happy to see our kid Madis Mihkels getting the bronze in U23!

I failed to get any pics of the cyclists

But here is my dad, surrounded by Flemish flags, after the fact

We saw three guys in the lead, then the peloton, and two stragglers (one from Burkina Faso judging by his jersey colors and complexion, and one rando that was hard to tell)

e: looks like the VRT put up a proper pic actually involving the riders:
