For the worse.

First it's highly likely he'll have extended after effects that tank the quality of his life, maybe permanently. Despite that, survivor bias will kick in and will reinforce his views. He may well end up even dumber and more obstinate because it turns out prolonged poor oxygen saturation causes brain damage.

always remember that this could have been done with in April/May if these fuckwads got the vaccine instead of thinking its filled with 5g communism-bots. Instead we're still burning up and based on trends don't expect it to be over for years. Who knows, maybe a new variant will mutate that makes current vaccines useless and we get to start all over again.

the beauty of the mRNA stuff is how quickly you can synthesize the spike and put it into production, especially now that the infrastructure is in place to mass-manufacture mRNA vaccines.

There's still plenty of lag-time, as is plainly obvious as far as rolling out worldwide, and that's not going to change any time soon due to the nature of regulating the manufacture of injectable drugs; however, we're talking months vs. years at this point.

I think the chance to wipe it out completely has passed. Best case scenario is a seasonal COVID shot like flu vaccines imo.

Yeah, a lot of us initially had doubts and concerns about various things. My first reaction when I heard about a vaccine coming out so soon was "Holy poo poo, that fast? That's good, but it also seems like it might be a shitshow of side effects..." and I held off for...a couple of weeks, I think, while reading a lot and looking for any sort of legit news of badness. It quickly became obvious that any side effects were minimal/rare and that it was saving a lot of lives. Wow, that was easy.

It's really not that hard to make good decisions, assuming you have any sort of decent reasoning ability, aren't completely brain dead, and give a gently caress about other people.

I know this thread is for lols, but I went through this exact same trajectory and now I’m really struggling because many of my friends went through the same, but came out on the other side. And what’s made this misinformation campaign so powerful is that it gives the resisters the assurance that they are reasoning, are smart and are taking care of other people by not falling for a scam. All their news sources are skewed right and supporting them in these positions and making the other side look ridiculous.

If anyone has any serious suggestions for how to get through to them I’d love to hear it. So far I’ve been using “take all the politics out of it, and listen to what experts you know personally are saying. I know a pharmacist with over 40 years experience, another PharmD, my doctor who has always been spot on with diagnosis, and two doctor clients and they are 100% in favor of the vaccines and masking, social distancing etc. so I’m just listening to them.” It’s made some headway, but all this misinformation plays on emotions and vulnerabilities in ways you can’t just out talk with rational information.

A large part of those connections were people I hadn't seen in like 2 decades, and recalled being normal, down to earth, rational folk. Today, two disbarred attorneys filed lawsuits against Alan Braid, an abortionist in San Antonio who wrote an op-ed titled, “I violated Texas’s abortion ban. Here’s why.”

Texas Right to Life is suspicious that Braid’s op-ed is purely a legal and publicity ploy. The abortion industry’s 16 previous efforts failed to stop this law from saving lives so far, and this may be another attempt. However, there is a four-year statute of limitations for any violations.

The first plaintiff suing Braid, Felipe Gomez, is a disbarred pro-abortion attorney attacking an abortionist with the goal of declaring the law to be unconstitutional. The second plaintiff, Oscar Stilley, is currently under home confinement and used his lawsuit to air grievances about his felony conviction.
Neither of these lawsuits are valid attempts to save innocent human lives. Both cases are self-serving legal stunts, abusing the cause of action created in the Texas Heartbeat Act for their own purposes.
We believe Braid published his op-ed intending to attract imprudent lawsuits, but none came from the Pro-Life movement.

Texas Right to Life is resolute in ensuring the Texas Heartbeat Act is fully enforced and we believe Braid’s effort will fail just like the abortion industry’s other legal attacks on the law so far.

https://www.mlive.com/public-interest/2021/09/lawmaker-accused-of-harassing-colleague-can-come-to-work-but-will-need-escort.html

Michigan lawmaker accused of harassing colleague can come to work, but will need escort

quote:

A Michigan lawmaker accused of harassing his colleague will need to be escorted by House sergeants to the House floor and his office to prevent potential violations of a personal protection order, according to a spokesperson for House Speaker Jason Wentworth.

State Rep. Steve Marino, R-Harrison Township, is legally allowed to come to the House floor for work despite a personal protection order recently granted to fellow Rep. Mari Manoogian, D-Birmingham, Wentworth spokesperson Gideon D’Assandro said.

Marino has been asked to inform House sergeants when he comes into either the Capitol or House Office Building and remain confined to his desk, in the House Republican caucus room or on his floor of the House Office Building. He will need to be escorted by a sergeant when heading to his office or the House floor “just to make sure that there’s no contact between the two,” D’Assandro said.

“He can be here for caucus meetings and votes,” D’Assandro said. “That’s what’s allowed under the law.”

Marino was not present on the House floor Tuesday for session, a decision D’Assandro said was Marino’s choice. Manoogian was present.

The two lawmakers were in a relationship over a year ago that Manoogian described as “volatile.” Marino was last week removed from his committee assignments after communications between Marino and Manoogian were brought to House leadership, and an investigation by law enforcement into the situation is ongoing.

In a statement issued last week, Marino claimed the allegations are “nothing more than politically motivated character assassination.”

Text messages filed in court with Manoogian’s request for a personal protection order show Marino told her that he hoped her “car explodes on the way in” and warned her to “hide on the House floor,” according to the Associated Press.

“You’re truly the worst human being I’ve ever met. I mean that with the utmost sincerity. Just a parasite,” one of the texts read.

A statement from Manoogian’s attorney issued after the personal protection order was granted said it was issued to ensure her safety and well being and was “based on the court determining that irreparable harm was likely to occur from the delay required to effect notice.”

D’Assandro said Wentworth made the committee changes he did both because Marino and Manoogian were serving on the same committee and because he wanted to “prioritize Rep. Manoogian’s safety and peace of mind.”

The lol of this is look at this giant rear end dork. Seriously, the biggest dork I've ever seen. I want to dunk him in a full toilet, nerdass proto-incel. What is he, 15 or some poo poo? This is a state lawmaker, not a high schooler!
