Coinbase has been extremely focused on trying to get its customers to do regularly scheduled purchases. Like, any purchase automatically has a prompt asking if you'd like to make it recurring, and they push the idea of recurring purchases all over their site. You know you're failing at running an exchange when you are basically pushing a pseudo-subscription model.

that's one of bitcoin's selling points too, they say that having every purchase be a push rather than allowing other entities to pull money out is a benefit i do so love how they keep papering over all of bitcoins supposed strengths

https://storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.uscourts.nysd.524076/gov.uscourts.nysd.524076.182.0_2.pdf A judge writes 127 page opinion I mostly didnt read, but didnt go well for Bitfinex, who will almost certainly now have to go towards trial. It wasnt a complete win for whoever this was who brought the case either, because I think their lawyer is a bit of a nut also (alleging poo poo like RICO, its never RICO unless you're R. Kelly). This will be funny whichever way it goes, because I'm sure the plaintiffs are insufferable coiners with worse counsel (I mean, RICO) divabot read this for us

this is an extremely preliminary ruling, basically if the suit at a very basic level pass the smell test. so far it does; it will proceed to other matters, including discovery which may be...not great, to put it mildly for the defendants. trial, if it gets there, is still a very long way off.
