Do we have any idea on if when the Oculus quest pro is coming?

Probably not until Facebook Connect on the 28th, unless they announce it beforehand then again at the event to remind people.

I am new to VR and fooling around in the Oculus Home room thingy. I like teleport movement, but I specifically like the way that Alyx does it with like a 2-frame blackout between positions, instead of this relatively slow fade-to-white thing in Oculus. The slow fade is somewhat disorienting and the fade up to white is a little blinding. Is there a way to configure it so it's black and quicker? Or a mod maybe? It seems to me that you should be able to fine-tune exactly how you move in VR, and it should be something you can set system-wide that every game/program respects for maximum comfort and consistency. Alyx movement is lovely, but I have also been playing Phasmophobia and it also fades to white instead of black, and that really sucks because the game is so dark that it feels like a camera flash every time you move. Is that something you can do yet? Any ideas?

It's on a per-game basis and I would go in with an open mind that you might one day be fine without teleport movement but it's a good crutch to avoid getting sick when starting out

Quest works, but Link cannot be used, even with Tray Tools (which I used to force it to even appear in my Q1). At least virtual desktop seems to be working.

Of course haha. Finally set up my PSVR again with the PS5. Did 2 songs in Beat Saber before it had me drifting into the wall. Said gently caress it and picked up the Quest 2 since I've recently built a decent pc so I can do some other VR stuff, and now it's all down. Good day

I was able to use my Quest 2 earlier and connect to Link, not sure why I was spared.

It works now. I was busy playing the mediocre Avengers games, though.

Minecraft is the best selling game ever, I don't think copying its style can be that bad a choice. It looks pretty decent in-game IMO.

I wish I won the powerball lotto, I would just launch ridiculous startups to amuse myself. Like a studio focused on the first well-funded, interactive VR porn app... but 100% minecraft pixel art style. Employ some bright people with senses of humor, big launch party, then after a while declare the idea ahead of its time. Hand the studio off to the employees / pay them out, and move on to the next big idea. The obscenely rich have no right to ever get bored.

Nothing weird about it to me at all.

Voxel art exists, but this is very clearly aping Minecraft specifically. Not that I mind, it's a serviceable visual style and easy to put together. I've been playing a dungeon mod in Vivecraft that is basically the same thing as this and it's super fun, although I probably don't need this game as a result.

I'd say it dips towards plagiarism a little bit tbh. It's entirely possible and valid to draw from something else to make your own thing, literally everything does to some extent, but when they're cribbing off Minecraft right down to the UI style it's a bit eyebrow-raising.

ChocNitty posted:Airlink seems to work better on my parents old, cheap, ISP supplied router, than it does on my new Netgear Nighthawk model. And the headset is further away from the router at my parents. There is. Nighthawks by default will blend you're 2.4 and 5g networks, but in a dense environment where 2.4 networks overlap on the 13 channels, you want your device to connect to the 5G instead. Go onto your router and look for options to either rename the 5g network to make it distinct, or disable the router moving your devices between the 2.4 and 5g networks. Also forget the 2.4 network on your headset so it won't auto connect. There's way less overlap on the 5g frequency, so you should see immediate improvement. 2.4 interference is killer

The Lynx headset launched on kickstarter today I've been following this French company for a while, it's a working and complete design basically using KS for preorders ahead of full manufacturing. It's got really interesting optics, plus a seamless full-color passthrough for AR/VR. Also, it's not locked to anything or any service, it's being explicitly made open. Compatible with SteamVR via wireless streaming, plus native applications, etc (it's Android 10 under the hood) Cool to see an independent with an actual working design that is genuinely different.

Is it possible for someone with the Rift version of Arizona Sunshine to play multiplayer with someone with the Quest version? I got it in that VR Humble Bundle and was wondering if I could play with my nephew.

Am I understanding this correctly in that you have to pay €420 more to be able to resell the headset in the future? The professional edition lists the ability to resell it as a feature.
