I can hit them obviously, but they can laser me way easier with assist, I just noticed all my kills at a distance were console players. It's the same way with all crossplay. I'm sure if I were a better aim it wouldn't matter, but I I got 45 kills after I ditched crossplay, mainly because I don't get killed at 200m with ARs.

So far, it's good. It's exactly what I wanted: battlefield 4 with better movement and some cool gimmicks. I love the specialist system so far. The weapon customization rosette is genius, and i'm shocked it hasn't been implemented this well before. I'm getting around 60-90 fps on medium settings with a 5600x and a 980ti, which, considering how rough everything is, ain't bad. Lots of stuttering early on but it smoothed out, presumably shaders loading. I could write out a gigantic laundry list of stuff that's missing or broken, this is 2/3rds of a battlefield game, but it's a pretty good 2/3.

I tried the beta on Xbox One and I can’t tell if it’s poorly optimized or if it’s really meant for the Series X and the One is just really struggling with it, but this was a janky mess and I did not have a good time. Textures were popping in and out, weapons sometimes didn’t have muzzle flashes or gun audio (making it real hard to tell if I’m shooting, let alone hitting anything), players and vehicles were teleporting around which made shooting at anything borderline impossible, it was a loving mess. I played the everloving poo poo out of BF1 and loved it, and I don’t remember the BF1 beta being this broken. Coming off the Halo Infinite beta last weekend (which was awesome and got me super hyped to play Halo games), this was a train wreck that convinced me to steer clear of BF2042 at launch. If this is what they’re intentionally posting up for people to play 1 month before the game comes out, I have no faith that they’ll have poo poo ironed out in time for launch day.

Question: 1. How do I get my Joystick to work with this game? It doesn't seem to detect any input from it. I have no other joysticks/gamepads plugged in. 2. When I have the variable zoom acog-like thing, every now and then I can toggle between the scope and the red-dot using F. But not all of the time. Sometimes it seems locked. Why doesn't it work all of the time and also, I can't find the keybind for whatever F is set to to change it. Does anyone know what it's called in the options/keybinds?

The sound is garbage unless it's war tapes. Even then it's still bad. I think there's some bug making it super quiet, so when you turn it up it doesn't have that dynamic range.

Just emptied an entire clip at somebody and they did the same to me but nothing registered, so then we both tried to melee each other for a couple of minutes and then I realized we were on the same team lmao

Could I pre-purchase the game through Origin, and then cancel once the beta ends? If I like the game enough I'll get a discounted key somewhere else, but I just installed a new GPU and am chomping at the bit to play the beta right now.

So I just managed to bully a tank out of a zone with the scout drone. Emp shuts down their ability to shoot and you can keep it up near constantly.

Was kinda lukewarm on it when I tried earlier today, but got on with a friend and had some good old fashioned battlefield fun. It was his first time playing a battlefield so I put him in the driver's seat and we had some Dukes of Hazzard action with him flying over hills and doing donuts around tanks while I blasted people. Like 3/4 of them were bots but hey it was fun mowing them down! Any idea what's up with the vehicle selection thing? Like it seems to permanently say 2/6 of the smaller vehicles but most of the time I use it nothing happens even if I'm in the open on a road with no obstructions nearby.

I did notice a lot less rubber banding after turning off cross play, but that could be a coincidence. Overall enjoying it but Orbital feels like a pretty weak map so I don’t see myself putting too much more time into the beta.

That helicopter bug took me back to the BF1942 physics days. Bouncing around inside of the helicopter while it flies through the air after you tried to exit. It's just too bad DICE got rid of interactions like the pilot holding arrow keys to open the loading doors on aircraft like that.

Is the crosshairs being faster than tank turret speed a setting I can turn off? It's really confusing. I ran over a guy and sent him flying across the map. Feels good.

So far the biggest issues I have are that anything not a Assault Rifle or SMG still feels suboptimal, and much like 1 there's way too few vehicles available at a given time for my liking in a Battlefield game, only allowing one tank per team in a game like this is straight horse poo poo

Played some of the beta tonight. Once I got the hang of them, I ended up liking the helicopters a lot. I found that it's dramatically easier to control them in first-person view for some reason. The battle tank is extremely strong. With guns did really lovely with the gun that seemed the closest equivalent to the sort of thing I used in BF5, the marksman rifle, but did kind of okay with SMGs. The highlight is when I shot a helicopter half-way across the map with my main tank cannon. Wish I had caught video of that.

I might be missing something, but how do you get some of the vehicles? I do know about being able to call in some stuff. I was able to get the robo-dog (which seems pretty useless) and the AA truck, but I don't know what I did that let me call them in. Is it a map control thing? Overall I'm pretty impressed considering this is my first Battlefield since Hardline. That being said, I do find some of the gunfights pretty one sided, but that isn't a bad thing. The K30 will pretty much shred anything at close range, the first AR is good at medium range and the sniper is pretty strong if you can land the shots. The LMG and DMR seem pretty useless though. I also would love it if the rocket launcher could 1 anything smaller than an APC.

I hate the way helicopters feel when flying. The only reason is that the nose pulls up hard when hitting the throttle, like the helicopter is trying to auto-hover. This forces me to constantly correct by sliding my mouse backward. I have "helicopter control assists" turned OFF, and that setting is under controller when I am using mouse & keyboard so I don't think that's the issue. I never want the helicopter to auto-level. Maybe this isn't an option, it's been a long time since I played a Battlefield with helicopters. Is there some setting I can use to change this?

Speaking of vehicle weapons, holy poo poo the VTOL side gunners are probably the worst weapons I have ever encountered. You can't hit anything past point blank. It barely does damage even to other air vehicles. Zero damage against tanks. The aiming radius is just right so you can't hit forward well enough, and incredibly awkward even then. Any sort of movement on the VTOL itself throws off your aim basically entirely.

Anyone else having an issue where clicking to spawn in a vehicle does nothing? It just closes the vehicle spawn menu and returns me to the default spawn screen. I am having to try multiple times to spawn in a vehicle.
